Five Young Entrepreneurs Advance in SEMA Launch Pad Competition

DIAMOND BAR, CA (009.29.2020) – After a public online voting, five young business owners and executives have been selected to compete in the final stage of the 2020 SEMA Launch Pad Competition. They will now pitch their products and ideas to a panel of industry experts, who will select and announce a winner during SEMA360 on Monday, Nov. 2, at 5:00 p.m. PST.

Available to business owners, executives and entrepreneurs under the age 40 who are launching new automotive products, the SEMA Launch Pad Competition supports young innovators and encourages future industry growth. This year’s finalists will be pitching products that improve a vehicle owner’s safety, convenience and overall driving experience.

“We are excited to support our young industry innovators by providing a platform to showcase their new ideas and products,” said Nathan Ridnouer, SEMA vice president of councils and membership. “This year’s finalists represent a diverse group of products. We continue to be amazed and inspired by the ingenuity, talent and skills that the younger generation possesses.”

The finalists who will be competing and pitching their ideas to a panel of industry experts and leaders on Monday, Nov. 2, during SEMA360 are:

Justin Bradshaw, Director of REVER
Product: Mobile App
REVER is a mobile app and website for powersports enthusiasts to discover, track and share routes. The company has thousands of recommended roads for sports cars and off-highway users as well as offline maps, turn-by-turn directions, a friend tracker to view other people in your group in real-time, weather alerts and the first CarPlay-compatible app of its kind for this specific audience.

Khanjan Desai, Director of Alchemy
Product: ExoShield
ExoShield is a thin, transparent film that stops rock chips by increasing the impact resistance of the windshield by six. The advanced safety features in most modern cars use sensors that sit behind the windshield, which has driven up windshield replacement costs by three to five times, even for mid-level vehicles. ExoShield is powered by Alchemy’s proprietary nanocoatings, which allows it to be both impact and scratch resistant and prevents expensive windshield replacements for vehicle owners.

Roland Hence, Director of FrontLane Inc.
Product: Impulse – Emergency Brake Light
The Impulse is a wireless, battery-powered emergency brake light that reduces rear-end collisions by pulsing eight ultra-bright LEDs under extreme braking situations to alert the following driver up to 50% quicker. Impulse can be installed on any passenger vehicle with a standard back windshield in seconds and has a four-year battery life.

Matt Rafeld, Director of Beachcomber Offroad
Product: Stowaway Door
The Stowaway Door is designed for Jeep owners to enjoy door-free days without worrying about rain, cold or a little mud on the seats. When not in use, the soft-door folds to fit under the rear seat or anywhere you could store a small tent.

Eric Rivera, Director of Dirt Dynamix
Product: Truck Accessories
Established August 2019, Dirt Dynamix designed and brought to market its Universal Truck Bed Mount—a simple and cost-effective way to offer shade via umbrella and/or mount any flag pole in the bed of any truck. Work, race or play—utilize your truck bed in any truck manner and one could benefit from this mount.

SEMA Opposes California Gas Vehicle Proposal

DIAMOND BAR, CA (09.28.2020) – California Governor Gavin Newsom issued a controversial Executive Order this week instructing the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to draft regulations requiring that all new cars and passenger trucks sold in the state be zero-emissions by 2035.

Once drafted, CARB’s proposed regulations will be subject to a lengthy regulatory process, including legal, economic, and environmental analyses, public comment and hearings. The Governor’s order is also expected to face numerous legal challenges from opponents.

“SEMA is deeply disappointed in Governor Newsom’s decision to escalate his ongoing feud with the Trump Administration at the expense of the consumer and California’s small businesses,” said Daniel Ingber, SEMA vice president of government and legal affairs. “SEMA will work with the industry and enthusiasts in opposing the Governor’s proposal on all fronts.”

According to the California Energy Commission, zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) currently make up approximately 2% of the over 28-million vehicles in use in the Golden State. It is estimated that at least 8% of new vehicle sales in California will be ZEVs and plug-in hybrids by 2025.

California’s ZEV program falls within the state’s greenhouse gas rule that is being challenged in court by the Trump Administration. The federal government is seeking to withdraw EPA recognition of the California rule under the Clean Air Act because it effectively establishes fuel economy standards, which are the sole jurisdiction of the federal government. The challenge could eventually be decided by the Supreme Court.

Metra Electronics is Now Shipping Two New Dash Kits for Toyota RAV4 2019-Up Models

HOLLY HILL, FL (09.25.2020)Metra Electronics is shipping two new dash kits, the 107-TO1HG and 108-TO6HG, designed for Toyota RAV4 2019 and up* models. The new RAV4 dashboards do not have space to fit a standard aftermarket Single-DIN or Double-DIN sized radio provision, so Metra has developed two unique solutions for either a 6.8” to 7” screen or Pioneer’s 8” modular receivers.

107-TO1HG

The 107-TO1HG is part of the new 107 Series of dash kits designed for radios which have an “L” shaped chassis design with the radio chassis at the bottom of the screen. Progressive AFT Title Fights Enter Second Half at Dallas Half-Mile

DAYTONA BEACH, FL (09.25.2020) – After a near-three decade absence, Progressive American Flat Track returns to Devil’s Bowl Speedway, in Mesquite, Texas, on Friday, September 25, and Saturday, September 26, to launch the second-half of an epic Grand National Championship fight with the Roof Systems Dallas Half-Mile I & II presented by Law Tigers.

Expectations were sky high prior to the start of the 2020 campaign, as Briar Bauman (No. 1 Indian Motorcycle/Progressive Insurance FTR750) was set to defend his AFT SuperTwins presented by Vance & Hines crown against record-book smasher Jared Mees (No. 9 Indian Motorcycle/Progressive Insurance FTR750).

Those expectations have most certainly been met; between them, the two have accounted for seven of eight Main Event wins on the season while trading the championship advantage back and forth following each successive doubleheader. While reigning champion Bauman currently leads the way, Mees is in a strong position to keep that trend alive with just five points separating the two at the top of the order as they prepare to do battle on Devil’s Bowl Speedway’s high-banked black clay.

The weekend will carry extra importance for a number of riders; it’s the home race of Roof Systems, which is not only the title sponsor of the doubleheader but also a key backer of nearly twenty riders spread across the three classes.

Roof Systems boasts a high-profile presence in the premier category in the form of two front-running efforts, HCRR Racing / Ben Evans Racing, backed by Roof Systems of Dallas, Texas and the Roof Systems of Dallas, Texas racing team.

Both outfits come into Dallas having flashed considerable potential in ‘20. Brandon Robinson (No. 44 HCRR Racing/Ben Evans Racing Indian FTR750) captured two runner-ups in the last three races, Brandon Price (No. 92 Roof Systems of Dallas, Texas Indian FTR750) has run up front in the pack all season long and Dan Bromley (No. 62 Roof Systems of Dallas, Texas Indian FTR750) secured two top fives last time out at Williams Grove.

That increased emphasis will also be evident in the AFT Singles presented by Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys class, where Roof Systems Racing ace Trent Lowe (No. 48 Roof Systems of Dallas, TX/Shoei Helmets Honda CRF450R) is fresh off the best ride of his young professional career.

Lowe pushed championship leader Dallas Daniels (No. 32 Estenson Racing Yamaha YZ450F) to the checkered flag en route to his first-career Progressive AFT podium. He’d love to move up one step this weekend.

That said, it could prove difficult to beat Dallas Daniels in Dallas, Texas. The ultra-talented Daniels has blossomed into the title frontrunner in just his second pro season on the strength of three wins and a runner-up result in eight races this season.

Preseason championship favorites Henry Wiles (No. 17 RMR Honda/Honda Talon CRF450R) and Mikey Rush (No. 15 Estenson Racing Yamaha YZ450F) are still within striking distance but would do well to not allow the fast-rising Daniels to pick up any more momentum.

The same could be said for reigning AFT Production Twins champ Cory Texter (No. 1 G&G Racing/Roof Systems Yamaha MT-07), ‘19 runner-up Ryan Varnes (No. 68 RVR/RoyBuilt Don’s Kawasaki Ninja 650), and Indy winner Ben Lowe (No. 25 Roof Systems of Dallas/Bruce Lowe Excavating Yamaha MT-07) regarding the streaking James Rispoli (No. 43 Latus Motors Racing Harley-Davidson XG750R).

Rispoli has won four of the class’ last five races and finished lower than second just once all season long. As a result, he’s assembled a 30-point advantage at the season’s midpoint while leaving his rivals scrambling for answers.

As always, spectator safety has been placed at a premium and Progressive AFT has worked closely with local health and government officials toward those ends. For more on the specific precautions being undertaken, please consult the Progressive AFT Events Health & Safety FAQ.

Admission has been limited in accordance with federal, state and local guidelines in order to promote a safe atmosphere and allow for proper social distancing. The Main Event program is set to kick off at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT both evenings. Live coverage of the entire weekend’s racing activities will be available on any device for less than $1 per event via TrackPass on NBC Sports Gold.

The Roof Systems Dallas Half-Mile I presented by Law Tigers will air on NBCSN on Saturday, October 3, at 3:00 p.m. ET/12:00 p.m. PT, and the Roof Systems Dallas Half-Mile II presented by Law Tigers will air on NBCSN later that same day at 9:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. PT. The broadcasts will include exclusive features, cutting-edge aerial drone and onboard footage, and the expert commentary of Progressive AFT legend Chris Carr.

Depth: 2 steps (0, 25/32 inch by set screws), Height: 4 steps (0, 33/64, 1-1/32, 1-17/32 inch by set screws), and Hand Tilt: -10˚ ~ +45˚.

Its unique Live Wallpaper background can also be enabled to synchronize background visual and color with music. User selectable wallpapers and photos in a “slide show” format can also be displayed simply by connecting a phone via Bluetooth and transferring the images from the new JVC Portal App. A “Favorite” icon and physical button selection allows users to choose from a wide variety of shortcut selections to their favorite screens. As is always a stand-out from JVC’s multimedia receivers, the KW-Z1000W includes the ability for users to benefit from the crowd-favorite Gesture Touch Control feature. With Gesture Touch Control, users can keep their eyes on the road, while using intuitive finger movements to control select popular functions, such as volume/track changes, widget format and style.

The KW-Z1000W touts enhanced driver assistance vehicle safety technology, by incorporating 4 selectable camera inputs. When an optional Automotive Data Solutions iDatalink Maestro RR or RR2 is connected, the receiver can also automatically switch to OEM or aftermarket blind spot camera system views on the display when a turn signal is activated (supported vehicles only). Both the RR and RR2 modules provide seamless retention of factory safety and camera systems, steering wheel controls and add performance gauges in most modern vehicles. In addition, the RR2 provides on screen Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) safety alerts (supported vehicles only) and three programmable outputs that can be used to activate things like a winch or a light bar from the KW-Z1000W’s on-screen controls. Radar detector information can also be displayed on the screen when used with a compatible K40 (RR or RR2) or ESCORT (RR2 only) radar detector system.
