XS Power PRI 2024 Wrap-Up

KNOXVILLE, TN (12.19.24) – The Performance & Racing Industry Show 2024 is known as the source of motorsports trends, merchandising ideas, new products, business strategies and more. The PRI Show hosts over 1,000 companies, and we stood out in a big way. As the leader of technology in the 12-volt, 14-volt, and 16-volt energy storage space, we debuted professional racer Bryant Goldstone’s brand-new Drag & Drive 1953 Corvette. This car was painted to match his existing XS Powered AMC Javelin, but his Corvette will host a plethora of upgrades over the Javelin.

Powered by our 14-Volt Titan8 PWR-S6, Bryant will be using all 1500 cranking amps to spin over his Steve Morris Engines SMX billet big block. The SMX is known to make well over 4,000hp with ease, and is a proven engine to go fast. Bryant was no stranger to us, as we’ve worked with him for years on different projects throughout his racing career. Bryant made the switch to a 14v system after seeing how well his fueling components worked at a higher voltage and was a no brainer when building this car. The battery is conveniently and tightly packed behind the passenger seat, and the wiring job was neatly and efficiently done to make sure there were no issues with current flow to his engine or components.

This car will compete in many Drag and Drive events in 2025, and the sport has gained popularity over the past couple of years. Drag & Drive encompasses the true meaning of a street car; not only do you have to make a fast pass down the track, but you also have to be able to do some miles on the street, hence the term Drag and Drive. With any fast car, getting more power to your components is key, and our Titan8 products deliver with ease the current needed for high performance fuel pumps, injectors, and so on.

On display, we had a huge array of our offerings. On the main table of our booth, we showcased our tried-and-true D3400 next to our Titan8 PWR-S5-3400. Those options side by side show a true comparison of the performance of our 12v Titan8 line of products, with the performance and weight savings being the biggest proponents in comparison. While the D3400 has more reserve capacity, we have something on the horizon we’ll be adding to our Titan8 lineup soon that will dwarf our D3400 in comparison.

Down the line we had our modular Titan8 PWR-S5 for those wanting to save some weight, next to our 14v modular Titan8 RSV-S6. For us, it was easy to show the difference between our modular 12v and 14v Titan8’s, and being able to show the difference between our Power-Series and Reserve-Series.

Included in our main display was our 16-volt options- Our S1600, D1600 and Titan8 RSV-S7-1600. Before Titan8’s inception, our S1600 was the option for light weight 16-volt performance, with our D1600 being the king of 16-volt batteries. With that being said, our Titan8 RSV-S7-1600 was the real star of the show (pictured in the middle). For the past couple of years, our RSV-S7-1600 has been picked up and used by some of the fastest drag racers with one goal in mind- to save weight and go faster. With almost identical performance to our D1600 at a fraction of the weight, RSV-S7-1600 surprised many this year given the performance, warranty length, and real-world results.

Also on display was our tried and true chargers: Our 1004 16-volt charger and our 1005 12/14/16-volt charger. Our 1005 is much more popular, as it can charge any 12-volt, 14-volt, and 16-volt AGM or Titan8 battery.

Last but never least, had our D925 and S1200 AGM batteries on display, as they are extremely popular sizes in race applications.

Overall, PRI 2024 was a huge success for XS Power Batteries, as we continue to push the boundaries of battery technology. We’ll see you all at PRI 2025!

SEMA Celebrates Supreme Court for Considering Legality of California’s Clean Air Act Exemption

DIAMOND BAR, CA (12.18.24) – The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) today expressed its appreciation of the Supreme Court of the United States for granting a writ of certiorari for a critical question in the case of Diamond Alternative Energy LLC v. EPA, which SEMA requested earlier this year via an amicus brief. In granting the writ, the court agreed to decide the important question whether some business interests and trade organizations, including members of the automotive aftermarket, have standing to make a legal claim that California’s Clean Air Act waiver allows the state to set rules that reduce demand for their products.

The court agreed to hear an appeal of a ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit holding that the plaintiffs did not have a legal right to challenge the waiver.

Specifically, the case stems from a D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals panel’s prior dismissal of a challenge to electric vehicle (EV) mandates on grounds that the plaintiffs lacked standing. To sue in federal courts, there needs to be a concrete injury because of a defendant’s actions. If the Supreme Court rules that the plaintiffs have standing, the D.C. Circuit would have to address the merits (i.e., whether the Environmental Protection Agency can let California regulate automotive carbon dioxide emissions). This is a fortuitous question, given President Joe Biden’s anticipated extension of California’s waiver through 2035.

The court declined to hear a challenge to the legality of the waiver itself.

SEMA’s amicus brief, filed in August, argued that California’s non-technology-neutral regulation that limits sales of internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles will have a devastating impact on the automotive aftermarket industry, effectively killing, rather than fostering innovation that can help produce cleaner, safer automobiles.

“SEMA is pleased that the nation’s highest court acknowledges the significant public interest in the question raised in Diamond Alternative Energy LLC v. EPA: that California is wrong to pursue internal combustion engine bans, and that lower courts who have affirmed the state’s ability to do so in fact ruled in error,” said SEMA President and CEO Mike Spagnola. “SEMA looks forward to the Supreme Court’s full review of this matter and is confident that justice will prevail on behalf of American innovation and ingenuity.”

SEMA, as an organization, champions a technology-neutral approach that fosters innovation and ingenuity and will continue its efforts to preserve Americans’ rights to vehicle choice and the automotive aftermarket industry’s ability to design, manufacture, and bring to market products that help solve the carbon emissions challenge.

DD AUDIO Goes Micro with New 4th Generation VO Bullet Tweeter

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (12.17.24) – DD AUDIO is proud to introduce the VO-MBTN125. The Voice Optimized B1 (1 inch bullet tweeter) entered its fourth generation of development with another exercise in downsize engineering. The result of this successful endeavor is the all new VO-MBTN125 Micro Bullet Tweeter Neo and it comes to you as a full-on compression driver, similar in size to a radiating dome tweeter, with flush mountability, bridging the output and clarity of pro audio with the practicality of OEM design.

This journey began 10 years ago when DD introduced the B1 ferrite motor tweeter to high output VO builds. With system designers asking for a more compact unit, the second generation of the VO-B1 moved to a Neo motor for improved versatility. The third generation brought with it a reduced outer diameter, past the inner throat profile, allowing the compression driver to be mounted as a true coaxial on the VO-XN6.5 for a powerful new combo driver. With this new fourth generation, DD has retained the inner throat of the horn profile for high efficiency, and re-engineered the outer structure to the smallest possible diameter.

With a total diameter of 45mm across and a total depth of 34mm, the VO-MBTN125 is clearly compact, but there’s more than just size contributing to its overall versatility. The new cast aluminum horn tooling incorporates a removable flange and grip ring that facilitates conventional door panel mounting. A threaded bolt hole is included on the back for rear support. The low profile design has been made for use with OEM grills and off the shelf adapter plates, widening the application potential to dashboards, A / B pillar mounting, and soundbar locations previously restricted to lower-power dome tweeters.

The Voice Optimized Micro Bullet Neo Tweeter was envisioned, designed and tooled by DD AUDIO to give installers more options and listeners greater satisfaction. This innovation is one of many additions to DD’s VO Series, expanding the power and application of these legendary pro audio speakers, and it won’t be the last. Check out the tweeters, coaxials, full-range, mids, mid-woofers, and woofers added in 2024 and look for more to come in 2025.

Along with the Pandora Ten, Pandora highlights emerging artists across various genres such as Country and Latin

Here is the next Pandora Ten, the artists to watch in 2025 and beyond. Listen to all of them HERE

The 2025 Pandora Ten:

Alex Warren: From sharing his personal struggles to his current rise to stardom, the 23-year-old singer-songwriter has connected with Pandora listeners through his songwriting and inspiring life story. His success continues to skyrocket across Pandora with support for the breakout singles “Burning Down” and “Carry You Home” across top stations. Earlier this year, Alex was chosen to be part of SiriusXM and Pandora’s Artist Accelerator program, which develops and breaks new artists by leveraging the massive audience of both SiriusXM and Pandora.

CYRIL: The Aussie-born producer, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist had his breakthrough in 2023 with “Stumblin’ In,” which soared on across streaming platforms and TikTok, becoming the most-played song across multiple countries. CYRIL’s remix of Teddy Swims’ “The Door” has been #1 on Pandora’s MIXR and airplay many weeks in a row. He has reached 8.2M solo streams on platform since 2023, with “Stumblin’ In,” his most popular electronic/pop crossover hit.

Gigi Perez: After finding instant viral success, the rising alternative singer-songwriter released her debut EP, How To Catch A Falling Knife in April 2023 and spent the year performing at various festivals and headline shows. Gigi began to release songs independently, starting with “Normalcy,” her first-ever self-produced track “Please Be Rude,” as well as the hit single, “Sailor Song,” that amassed 500k+ streams on Pandora over the past 90 days and landed her first-ever U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart entry, #1 on the UK singles chart, and continues to climb charts around the world. She’s hitting the road with girl in red this fall, in addition to her own headline shows – up next for Gigi is new music, and many more live shows.

Kapo: Juan David Loaiza Sepúlveda, known in the music industry as Kapo, is a 26-year-old artist from Colombia who was discovered and signed by Nicky Jam’s La Industria Inc. label. The performer and a composer broke out this summer with the viral success of the single “Ohnana,” followed by “UWAIE”, both of which propelled Kapo to global recognition across Europe and the Americas. His virality and growth have made him a standout on Pandora’s El Pulso station, with both “Ohnana” and “UWAIE” landing consistently in the top 20 most-thumbed-up tracks on the station during the latter half of the year. Further cementing his recognition as an Artist to Watch, Kapo’s Pandora streams have grown 500% in the last three months alone, topping 4.3 million during that period. In his short moment in the spotlight, Kapo has already collaborated with some of the biggest artists in the industry, including Nicky Jam, Farruko, Manuel Turizo, Jhayco and others.

Leon Thomas: The 30-year-old Brooklyn native, seamlessly bridges the worlds of music, acting, and production. Thomas made a notable debut with his album Electric Dusk (2023), featuring collaborations with Victoria Monét, Benny the Butcher, and Ty Dolla $ign, and his groundbreaking work on SZA’s “Snooze” earned him a Grammy in 2024, highlighting his innovative influence in shaping contemporary R&B. With his latest album MUTT, Thomas continues to explore the complexities of love and ambition through with the title track rising up the charts and thriving across SiriusXM’s The Heat and Pandora’s Blueprint.

Megan Woods: Megan Woods is from Boston, Massachusetts where God planted a love for music in her at a really young age, but she found herself wrestling with her sense of self-worth. Developing her relationship with Christ through her songwriting began her healing process and leaning into God’s love after coming from a place of worthlessness shows up in all the songs she writes. She eventually signed a record deal with Fair Trade Services that’s home to CeCe Winans, MercyMe and Phil Wickham. Megan has burst onto the scene with a powerful anthem called “The Truth” which has shown great promise on all of the Pandora stations it has been placed on, in addition to SiriusXM’s The Message. She is at the forefront of a new trend towards younger-leaning audiences seeking powerful faith-based music they can relate to.

Natalie Jane: Coming off of a headlining EU/UK tour, Natalie Jane continues to break through to Pandora listeners across the platform. The hit single “Somebody to Someone (I Just Wanna Fall in Love)” over indexed on Pandora this year, leading to the adds on major Pandora pop stations including Today’s Hits, Today’s Adult Hits, Pop Space, New Pop, Women in Pop, This Year in Pop.

The Funeral Portrait: Greetings from Suffocate City, The Funeral Portrait’s first full-length album with Better Noise Music, showcases the band’s unique blend of emotionally raw and anthemic rock. The album features collaborations with artists like Bert McCracken of The Used and Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills, mixing mainstream rock appeal with nostalgic nods to the 2000s Warped Tour scene. On Pandora, the band continues to make waves with over 1.3 million lifetime streams on the platform with more to come in the next year. Frontman Lee Jennings describes the band as a voice for “weirdos and misfits,” a message that resonates with their diverse, inclusive audience.

Veeze: Detroit’s beloved cult artist is proving to be a superstar in the making with his unconventional flow and progressive sound. Since his 2019 debut, Navy Wavy, his buzz has grown nationally with hits like “Law ‘N’ Order” and high-profile collaborations with Lil Yachty, 42 Dugg, and Lil Baby. His 2023 debut album, Ganger, catapulted him further, with standout singles like “Not a Drill” and “GOMD” drawing widespread attention. Following a sold-out Ganger Tour, Veeze launched his own imprint, Navy Wavy, in partnership with Warner Records—cementing his status as a rising Gen Z rap icon. Pandora continues to spotlight Veeze across stations and he was a performer at SiriusXM and Pandora’s recent HBCU Homecoming Pop Out Concert.

Zach Top: Top is quickly establishing himself as a preeminent artist to watch following the release of his debut album, Cold Beer & Country Music, a sold-out headlining tour and his first CMA nomination for new artist of the year. Pandora has been the leading DSP supporting his album with continuous play across stations and SiriusXM’s The Highway has supported with heavy airplay as well. Adding to his breakout year, his viral single, “I Never Lie,” debuted on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart. Top has also spent much of this year on Lainey Wilson’s “Country’s Cool Again” tour and will be direct support for select Alan Jackson dates in 2025.
