Race Sport Lighting Patented GEN4 LED Kit is Back and Shipping

RINGWOOD, IL (12.20.2021) – Race Sport Lighting has announced the patented and innovative GEN4® LED High Performance LED Kits are in stock and shipping to resellers. The 1st Generation of GEN4® kits were launched in 4th quarter 2019, after US Patent No. 10,801,714 was issued in October of 2019. North American dealers were raving over the new technology and the GEN4® was an instant success with resellers looking to sell the best of the best when it comes to forward lighting systems. The line took a hit when COVID struck North America in early 2020 and shut down its assembly lines. Memphis Audio Held 2-Day National Rep Meeting at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego

MEMPHIS, TN (12.17.2021) – The best sales reps in the business enjoyed an informative 2-day trip to San Diego California for the Memphis Audio National Sales Meeting. Salesmen enjoyed a day packed full of technical training and a slew of new product to get them prepared to help their dealers achieve next level success in 2022. In addition to trainings and new products, Memphis wanted to bring the team together for some much needed bonding and to celebrate the success during a difficult year.

New product offerings unveiled by Memphis focused heavily on marine and powersports products as s well as new innovative car audio products purposefully designed to provide dealers with solutions to elevate their business to the next level in 2022. The attendees were particularly excited about the completely overhauled Memphis Marine amplifier line as well as the all-new marine grade Mini MOJO 8” subwoofer. On the car audio side, reps were impressed with the new VIV68DSP 6 to 8 Digital Sound Processor. A portion of the meeting was dedicated to showing just how easy and user friendly this new app-based device is and how significantly it can improve the vehicles sound. “We never stopped innovating and working on new product during the pandemic. We’ve hit some snags and hiccups due to supply chain issues, but we’ve pressed an on have an impressive list of new innovative products to share with the industry. I was really pleased with the reactions I received to the new product and I know the guys are excited to get out there and share all the new solutions we have to offer our dealers,” said Nick LoMonaco, president of Memphis Audio. 

PowerSports and Marine Audio are hot categories and this new loaded enclosure provides a glimpse of new products to come in 2022.
After a full second day of meetings a dinner and then private party was held on the roof of the Hard Rock Hotel.

After the meeting concluded, the sales reps were treated to a private roof top party at the Hard Rock San Diego. This was the first time since the beginning of the pandemic that the salesmen were able to connect in person with each other. The team was ecstatic to be together and the fun rolled on late into the night building up to the sales award announcements. Nick LoMonaco, president of Memphis Audio took to the mic to announce the award winners to a spirited group. There were many winners but only one man could take home the Memphis Audio total sales leader strap. Thom Lerch was announced as the overall sales leader to a rowdy round of applause and was presented with the championship belt which has become a tradition for several years running with the Memphis crew.

“It was amazing being around most of the team again. We’ve done remote meetings during the pandemic, but they really can’t compete with the amount of camaraderie on display at this year’s in person event. It really was a huge success, and we are really thankful that we were able to spend time with the guys that make it happen on a daily basis, This meeting served as a great reminder of how important everyone is on this team and how we can all achieve success together,” said LoMonaco.

Every College Football Bowl Game to Air on SiriusXM

NEW YORK, NY (12.17.2021) – SiriusXM is giving subscribers nationwide access to an extensive schedule of live games this college football postseason, with all Division I FBS bowl games – including the College Football Playoff Semifinals and National Championship – the FCS Football Championship game, and other postseason All-Star games. Subscribers can tune in to these games on the SiriusXM radios in their cars and on the SXM App.

On New Year’s Eve, subscribers can tune in for both College Football Playoff Semifinal games – the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic featuring #4 Cincinnati vs. #1 Alabama (3:30 pm ET), followed by #3 Georgia vs. #2 Michigan in the Capital One Orange Bowl (7:30 pm ET). Two weeks later, on January 10, listeners will get live play-by-play as the winners of those two games face off in the College Football Playoff National Championship at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, IN (Jan. 10 at 8:00 pm ET). Tulsa Technology College Students in the House at Car Toys Tulsa

TULSA, OK (12.16.2021) – Car Toys Tulsa hosted students the week of December 6th.

Car Toys Tulsa Owner Charles Stewart related “Our store signed up to work with Tulsa Technical College this year. Most of the students were area high school students but some were in the adult program. When they got out of their classes they came to our store and shadowed our installation techs and got a feel for sales and products across the 12volt industry. Generally 3 students in the morning and 3 in the afternoon.”

Over the course of the shadowing program a total of 24 students participated during the week in the Car Toys Tulsa store.

“We had met with and talked with the school in Broken Bow and were not able to get started last year because of Covid. Several of the students last week were well into automotive repair and ASE certification. In fact we have staff members in our store that attended the Tulsa Technology College’ Stewart added.

As it turned out some of the students had never been into a true 12volt specialty retail store before.

“When the students first came into our store they were surprised to see our displays and working display board. In our showroom we also accent lighting and a super overall showroom layout. Adding to that we had recently repainted the outside of our building that really stands out in the shopping center parking lot” Steward concluded.

The Car Toys Tulsa building recently got a fresh coat of paint and detailing.

“I think it’s a great concept. Charles is giving these young guys an opportunity to choose Car Audio as a career path. We need new and energetic guys coming into our industry and this is a great first step for many of them to learn a professional skill. Hats off to Charles and his team” Gary Biggs, Momentum Sales, related.

There is a plan in the works to participate with the Tulsa Technology College for the Spring 2022 semester.

Whether You Call it the “Carolina Squat,” Tilt or Lean, It’s Now Illegal

DETROIT, MI (12.15.2021) – If you’ve spent any time on North Carolina roads you might have found yourself wondering about the way some local motorists have modified their vehicles to look like the front end is pointed up towards the sky.

It’s known as the “Carolina Squat,” though the concept actually was born out West. Whatever its origins, and whether you prefer to call it the “Carolina Lean,” or even the “Tennessee Tilt,” lawmakers in the Tar Heel State have made it illegal and drivers who ignore the new measure could lose their license.

The move came in response to a Change.org petition presented to the North Carolina House of Representatives that garnered the signatures of more than 70,000 of the state’s residents.

Roots in racing

The Carolina Squat is traditionally a truck or SUV, though sedans and coupes may also be modified by lowering the back of the vehicle several inches and then raising the front end by three inches or more.

The origin of the practice appears to trace back to California’s Baja racing circuit. It not only shifts the center of gravity toward the back wheels but helps when landing jumps on uneven pavement.

Today, its origins are largely irrelevant. Like the lowriders popular in many urban communities, it’s all about the look.

A risky move

But while the Carolina Squat may have its fans, there are plenty of folks who hate the approach. For one thing, the vehicles now have their headlights pointing up, rather than straight ahead, and that can reduce visibility for other drivers. Experts also warn that the modified vehicles are less stable and less safe in a crash.

“These trucks blind people with their headlights pointed to the sky,” the Change.org petition read.

Some mechanics contend the approach also risks damaging a vehicle by draining oil from the drivetrain.
