Alpine Hosted Optim8 Roadshow Training Plus Certification in Salt Lake City, UT

SALT LAKE CITY, UT (08.03.23) – Alpine hosted an Optim8 Roadshow Training at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Salt Lake City on Thursday, July 27th.The evening started with dinner and refreshments at 7PM and the training began at 7:30.

“We had a total of 47 participants attend the roadshow training. Most of the attendees were from the Salt Lake City area, however we had dealers attend that drove from as far as Boise, ID. Eric Brooks presented an in-depth presentation on the new Optim8 processor and its ability to tune a vehicle in under 5 minutes…after installation. This presentation took roughly 1.5 hours” Eric Baltzer, Santa Fe Territory Sales Manager, related.

The Optim8 training meeting filled the room at the Hampton Inn and Suites.
Eric Brooks presented the Alpine Optim8 training to a full house.

Continuing “Next, the attendees were exposed to two separate listening experiences. One Optim8 experience was in an Alpine equipped Ford F-150 (Alpine Corporate Vehicle) and the second Optim8 listening experience was in an Alpine equipped Lexus NX300 (Representative Vehicle). All attendees were able to audition both vehicles and had the ability to hear the difference between utilizing the DSP and listening to the vehicle with the DSP turned off. The results were substantially noticeable according to the participants.”

Attendees outside the Hampton Inn experienced live Optim8 in-vehicle demos.

In between the presentation and the listening experiences, Alpine offered an opportunity for the dealers to purchase the new Optim8 processor at a discounted rate. Also, all attendees were offered an aggressive accommodation price to help get the new processor in their personal vehicles. Both of these opportunities helped drive sales of over twenty units the day of the event.

Nick Boucher (R) The HiFi Shop is pictured with his raffle prize and Eric Baltzer.
Allen Salazar (R) Car Concepts has his arms full as he accepted his raffle prize from Eric Baltzer.

After the listening auditions, Alpine and Santa Fe raffled off Alpine products for attendees that stayed for the duration of the meeting and listening experiences. The total of these goods exceeded $3,500 in retail, so it was advantageous for the participants to go the distance as they had a chance to walk away with both knowledge and free products.

Kalib Smith (R) DC Customs will certainly enjoy his raffle prize that Eric Baltzer presented.

“Altogether, we feel the event was tremendously successful and look forward to the success of this new and exciting product from Alpine,” Baltzer concluded.

DIAMOND BAR, CA (07.27.23) – The 2023 SEMA Show in Las Vegas will provide attendees the unique opportunity to become electric-vehicle (EV) certified as part of a new SEMA Education initiative to create a more robust career- and professional-development program year-round.

On Monday, October 30, early arriving attendees and exhibitors can gain a new understanding of EV powertrains in an intimate, hands-on session capped at 20 participants during “Electric Vehicles 101 Presented by Legacy EV.” Register here.

“This course will provide a brand-agnostic and hands-on training opportunity for automotive techs to upskill themselves with a new understanding of EV powertrains. The one-day training will focus on the fundamental functions of electric powertrains and explore key high voltage safety practices,” said Pamela Brown-Matthis, SEMA director of education. “And, most notably, trainees who complete this course will receive an EV101 certification from Legacy EV.”

Greg Snowden (above right) of Revolt Systems will join curriculum specialists Baily Soto and Tom Santilli of Legacy EV for the full-day program, detailed below.

Program Schedule:

9:00 a.m.-12:10 p.m.

“Understanding EV Anatomy and Electrical Theory”

Learning how EVs work begins with understanding what is inside them and then the fundamentals of how they are powered. The topics will be covered during the first session, giving attendees an overview of the components that make up an EV, their functions and the electrical theory that gives them modern performance. Core ideas covered will include EV components and systems, Ohm’s law, Watt’s law and electric circuits using models, mathematics and computational thinking.

In this session, attendees will discover and understand:

  • What systems are needed to make a functional EV?
  • What are the functions and essential specifications of EV components?

The second session will provide the fundamentals of high-voltage (HV) safety compliance and attendees will apply their knowledge from the morning session with safety best practices while working on real EV powertrains. Attendees will use EV tools and equipment, zero voltage verification, block diagrams and vehicle specifications.

In this session, attendees will discover and understand:

  • How can we use EV components specifications to determine and improve vehicle performance?
  • How do I use a digital multimeter to measure voltage, current, resistance and continuity in a HV circuit?
  • How might I arrange and wire EV components to fit an ICE vehicle and chassis?
  • How do I perform a certified HV disconnection procedure?
  • How do I verify that my system is de-energized or zero voltage verified (ZVV)?
