Remembering Ted Sharp and Audio Enhancers Enclosures

FRANKLIN, TN (10.30.26) – Teddy Nelson Sharp, age 69 of Franklin, TN passed away October 24, 2026 with his loving family by his side. He was born in Huntland, TN to the late Jimmie Lee Sharp Turner and Joe Sharp.

Teddy had a natural gift for sales, an entrepreneurial spirit, and an incredible talent for building custom automotive speaker cabinets. He founded Audio Enhancers in 1982, turning his passion and craftsmanship into one of the nation’s leading manufacturers of speaker enclosures. Proudly American-made, the company earned numerous awards, including recognition among Business Tennessee’s Fast 50 companies.

Ted was a pioneer in that category in the 12volt industry who connected with dealers and distributors across the US and
exhibited at distributor shows like P&E with a great display on enclosures. James Claridy worked with Ted and recalls the 14
hour days as he and Ted designed and build the enclosures. David Holland at Shiflet and Dickson remembered the many
shows Ted showed his products at the Shiflet Shows in Gastonia NC.

Teddy was the kind of man who could fix just about anything. Joshua learned that at a very young age, and one of his favorite sayings as a little boy was, “Dad can fix it!” And most of the time, Dad really could!

Audio Enhancers always had a full presentation at distributor shows.

Teddy enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. Over the years, he loved riding dirt bikes and whitewater kayaking. Every summer, he would bring his Sea-Doo to his sister’s lake, and it always came along on family vacations to the beach. There were more beach trips than anyone could possibly count, each one filled with wonderful family memories.

He loved cheering on his Auburn Tigers and Tennessee Titans and was a big NASCAR fan. He also had his favorite television shows. The Big Bang Theory was a nightly tradition, one he enjoyed right up until the end. He also loved The Voice, The Price Is Right, and The 700 Club.

With The 12volt News it was always great to catch up with Mr. Ted Sharp in his booth at shows.

Teddy had a heart for giving and helping others. His generosity went far beyond his family and friends. Over the years, he participated in mission trips to Guatemala, Ecuador, and Honduras, giving his time and resources to make a difference in the lives of others. He also supported missionary work through financial contributions.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Johanna Sharp; son, Joshua Jose Sharp; daughter, AnaMaria Lee Sharp; brother, Charles H. (Linda) Sharpe; sister, Ramona “Mona” Hopper; mother-in-law, Violeta Calderon; brothers-in-law, Marco (Sheila) Calderon, Luis (Kimberly) Calderon; sister-in-law, Karlita (York) Larese; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Linda (Charlie) Brown and brother, Jimmy (Lucy) Sharp.

A funeral service will be held at 12PM Saturday, October 31, 2026 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be 10:00AM-12:00PM prior to the service.
