Scott Hochmuth Marks 40 Years in Mobile Electronics

Buford, GA – 11/23/2022 – This month marks 40 years of service in the mobile electronics industry for Scott Hochmuth. His career can be traced back to Atlanta’s Southside where Turtle Records and Tapes employed him as assistant manager. Not only did Scott thrive in his position, but he was exposed to more than just vinyl, cassettes, and 8-track tapes. He was introduced to a wide variety of music and broadened his love for good quality sound.

Scott jumped at the chance to gain more industry knowledge and take control of his paycheck through commission sales by joining Atlanta HiFi chain, Stereo Village, in November of 1982. Stereo Village sold car audio and home audio and video. Most of the action here could be found in the 10×10 car audio room and there is where Scott had to quickly learn how to sell car audio. Scott’s competitive nature and no-nonsense approach to helping customers find the right fit for their needs in an honest and matter-of-fact manner set the tone for decades of integrity and character seen in his relationships with dealers today.

His prowess made him an excellent choice for store manager at American Radio a few years later. His store was a test location for Rockford Fosgate and Scott was one of the first in GA to attend the Rockford Technical Training Institute in Phoenix AZ, which was then taught by Ron Trout. This training elevated Scott’s knowledge base and catapulted him above the competition in Georgia. He was building ported enclosures and passive crossovers when everyone else was still doing a deck and four speakers.

Scott names Lindsay Davis with CMA sales as an early mentor. Davis was Scott’s Alpine rep at Stereo Village and the person he saw living an enviable dream in the industry. Scott was ready to pursue the rep life and opportunity struck in 1989 with Fultron Car Audio and their sister company Fulmer helmets. Scott was still in his 20s and found himself surrounded by men with decades of experience. The youngster had to prove himself and landed at the right place at exactly the right time. During his tenure, Fultron became Memphis Car Audio and he was there for the explosive growth that followed. Scott excelled in this position and earned many awards including “Top Salesman” for the Memphis brand, the Fulmer Helmet brand, and for overall sales.

Following SEMA there was only a brief window before Thanksgiving so Scott headed for a weeklong swing in Florida following the hurricanes.

At the end of 2015, when Scott’s position with Memphis came to an abrupt end, he decided to start his own rep firm. Real Performance Marketing (RPM) was a startup out of nothing. He built his company from scratch depending on credit cards for a very lean first year. In year two, he broke even. By year three, he was turning a profit and paying off the debt. The next five years saw much change, growth, and expansion for Scott and RPM.

The RPM line card includes top brands across the 12volt industry.

Today, Real Performance Marketing is a team of four outside reps, an inside rep, and an office manager representing 20 lines in the Mobile Electronics and Powersports industries covering the entire Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. Scott feels very blessed to have such an amazing team to work with every day. He loves what he gets to do for a living and plans on continuing to work as a rep for at least another 20 years. Not bad for a guy who has been in the industry since the 8-track.

Extreme Car Audio Hosted The Pre-Black Friday 2022 Event

MARRERO LA (11.22.22) The New Orleans suburb of Marrero was the place to be for car audio enthusiasts on Saturday, November 19th. The company’s annual Pre-Black Friday event offered great deals of up to 60% off, raffles plus food food and refreshments.

The Black Friday Trailer and vendor vehicles grabbed attention.

In addition demo vehicles were set up in the parking lot from top Extreme Car Audio suppliers. Alpine, Rockford Fosgate, Sony, AAMP of America and Morel reps had their demo vehicles set in the parking lot on the very busy thoroughfare corner. Throughout the day consumers had a chance to take a seat to experience the amazing systems and check out the custom installations.

Chris Brinkley had the AAMP Silverado position early for demos.

Ace Truong, Extreme Car Audio’s very proactive owner stated, “Every year we look forward to our Pre-Black Friday event to really get the holiday sales season kicked off. Unfortunately this past Saturday the weather did not cooperate as it was cold and rainy. This is really our first cold snap of the year and many people were kind of hibernating. That said, the traffic that we had at the store was certainly quality. Customers took seats in the vendor demo cars with reps and really had first hand chances to hear some of the very best systems on the planet.”

The Synergy Marketing Avalanche showed a number of brands.

Jimmy Chaffee, area Alpine rep was in the house with an Alpine demo vehicle under the tent. “Consumers who took the Alpine ‘ride’ were very impressed with the could and learned about the in-vehicle connectivity offered by Alpine. We also definitely planted some seeds for future business for Ace at Extreme Car Audio.”

Attendees saw the amazing custom work in the Rockford Fosgate demo vehicle.

Chris Brinkley was in the house with the AAMP pickup for demos and connectivity products under the AAMP umbrella of brands. “It was great to support Ace and his team. The weather definitely slowed the traffic at event. That said we did open eyes with the possibilities of adding 12volt gear to vehicles for those who sat in the passenger seat.”

David Toliver, Synergy Marketing Agency, had the company’s decked out Avalanche set up showcasing Morel gear, Dynamat, Audiomobile, MUSWAY and Lucas Lighting. It is always so cool when a consumer takes a seat in the Avalanche. The custom installation is amazing and customers eyes get so wide when they hear the great sound. Lighting is a hot category and the Lucas Lighting products got a lot of attention. In fact some local patrol officers can in and bought some lights. They commented how important it is to seem on patrol at night. They also took advantage of extra discounts Ace offers to law enforcement.”

Attendees saw amazing interior work when they entered the Extreme Hummer H3 loaded with Alpine.

Shawn Simpson, Momentum Marketing, was on site with a Rockford Fosgate demo vehicle. Simpson related “The event was successful in spite of the weather. There were 7+ demo vehicles showcasing the work that could be done as well as the lines that Extreme offers in the market. Consumers received a raffle ticket for every demo vehicle they listen to. On every hour is he held a raffle for a piece of merchandise. Ace also had it catered by local chef and all the food was delicious. Ace really put together a fantastic, well organized event. I look forward to working together with the team at Extreme audio for years to come.

Concluding Ace related “Nothing we could do about the weather. We did not sell as much as past years but it was terrific to visit with our reps, provide consumer demos and importantly plant seeds for future business. Marketing is a continuing process that requires daily attention for future grow. Celsus UK and KICKER Marine Audio Wrapped a Very Successful METSTRADE 2022

AMSTERDAM (11.21.22) – CELSUS UK, Poole based distributor for KICKER Marine Audio products in Europe, displayed three new speaker lines from the Oklahoma-based manufacturer at the METSTRADE 15th-17th of November at the RAI Convention Centre in Amsterdam, Netherlands. METSTRADE is the world’s largest event for marine professionals.

The expanding 2023 offerings featured an OEM focused flush mount classic grill style, horn loaded high output models and an entry level 6.5” coaxial. KICKER aims to give distributors, installers and boat owners more choices when configuring high-end performance audio systems.

The Celsus UK Team was joined by KICKER’s International Sales staff members David Glasgow, Chet Weddle and Aziz Masri. Glasgow, International Sales Manager, related “We were delighted to support Celsus UK at the METSTRADE and display some of our recently introduced marine speaker products. The event was a great chance for us at KICKER to meet with our European marine distributors and OEM’s to learn more about this important market.

More than 130 companies were recognized by a panel of esteemed international journalists for having a product that would resonate with consumers in their home countries. Twenty-three judges from 16 countries participated in the 2023 Global Media Awards Program that took place during the 2022 SEMA Show.

Glad to return to the iconic Show following the pandemic, the international judges carefully reviewed and evaluated the items on display in the New Products Showcase to select the award winners. PowerBass USA Lands in Greece Following a Week Across the Pond in London

ATHENS, GREECE (11.16.22) – Immediately following a very successful showing at SEMA 2022 PowerBassUSA was headed across the pond for 2 weeks to spend time with distributor partners and dealers. Erik Harbour, PowerBass VP Product Development & Global Marketing, departed for London on Sunday November 6th.

This is the correct side of the freeway across the pond in London.

Night two of the Car Audio & Security Distributors dealer training was held at Dhillons Brewery in Covington UK.

“Once arriving in London the first thing was to hook up with Carl Huntington who represents PowerBass on the continent and set the plan for the 2 weeks ahead. Carl had a super plan in place for the first week which we spent hosting 2 well-attended dealer training meetings set up by our distributor Car Audio & Security. Following each meeting there was time set for networking, dinner and refreshments. Other time spent in the London area included dealer meetings and seeing some great area attractions.

Harbour is thinking a behind the wheel of a f1 ride an a track would be a very special experience.
A RedBull ride would also be quite an experienced for Harbour.
Red phone booths in London are still iconic landmarks.
The Tuesday afternoon dealer training took place in the Car Audio Nikou/Directed Greece location in Thessaloníki.
Erik Harbour covers the PowerBass line for 15 dealers on Tuesday afternoon at Car Audio Nikou. Several dealers stayed to chat with some placing orders.

Taking a seat in a f1 car plus time in a racing simulator for some hot laps in Brazil, a stop at the Mercedes-Benz World and Red Bull plus night scenes around London added the across the pond experience for Harbour and Huntington.

Huntington and Harbour wrapped the first week across the pond and headed to Greece on Monday, November 14th. They hit the ground running and hosted a dealer training Tuesday afternoon at their Greece distribution partner’s Car Audio Nikou/Directed Greece facility in Thessaloniki.

There was a drawing for a prize after the meeting and Autosonik team members from Kavala Greece, who flank Harbour, took home a PowerBass BT200 Bluetooth portable speaker.
The Acropolis in Athens will be a Wednesday view.

“There were over 15 in the PowerBass training and all were very interested in products in the line. We see a huge growth potential in this market for PowerBass Car and Marine products. Several dealers stayed around after the meeting to spend time us. Some orders were placed too” Harbour related.

Huntington and Harbour travel to Athens, today-Wdnesday November 16th, to spend time with dealers and cap the 2 week journey on the Continent.

SSR Distributors Houston Show Packed the House on Sunday November 13th

HOUSTON, TX (11.15.22) – On Saturday all was set in motion for Sunday’s SSR’s Distributors Show in Houston. During the day Saturday vendors and representatives set up their booths and prepared for the big Sunday Show on November 13th.

Saturday evening nearly 40 people enjoyed an evening dinner at the Avenida Brazil Churrascaria Steakhouse with refreshments hosted by SSR’s Amir Dhanani and Tracy Farr. Farr related “The dinner event was a terrific evening of networking and fine dining with refreshments too. We sincerely conveyed to all our appreciation for their support, partnership and contributing to the success SSR is experiencing in the marketplace served by the Dallas and Houston locations.”

Through the day Sunday attendees from SSR’s dealer base topped 250 as all checked out the latest products from over 30 brands that had tables and demos set up between shelves and space in the large warehouse. Continuing Farr offered “There was a real sense of enthusiasm on the floor. Dealers were happy to see vendors and their products in person. The venders were likewise excited to show their latest products to SSR’s dealers.”

There were numerous demo vehicles on display including including the AAMP pickup-with Chris Brinkley behind the wheel, a bike decked with Cicada Audio and Farr’s ’06 red Corvette decked with Kenwood products. A Jeep Wrangler was shining bright with LUMI lighting that is a SSR brand. There were also demo vehicles in the parking lot on the cool, clear day. Training sessions for Maestro and AudioControl were offered. There were over 35 people in each session with Jimmy Bradfield conducting the Maestro session and Chris Brinkley from AAMP conducting the AudioControl session.

PRV Audio is a new brand in the house that SSR picked up at SEMA 2022. The company occupied a corner space with a lot of branding and products on display. Daniel Costa-CEO and Roberto Amengual-Sales Manager were two of the PRV staff members in the house.

Several vendors traveled great distances to attend the SSR Show. Nina Contreras-SiriusXM traveled from SoCal. Jeremy Foss also traveled from SoCal to show the latest from Jensen. Foss did not arrive in Houston until after midnight Saturday for the Sunday show.

This is the ticket that dealers had punched when they visited each booth to enter the raffles.

Vendors also set up demos outside on the cool clear Sunday morning.
Midday dealers packed the aisles in the SSR warehouse.

During the show there were 2 raffles for dealers who turned in their cards punched to visit each booth. The raffle prize for each drawing topped $2000. for a mix of products stacked on the table. Prized ranged from a couple hundred to ten bucks. A food truck in the parking lot offered a wide variety of food for attendees plus pizza was also available for the hungry attendees.

Concluding Farr related “The Houston Show was a super event and set the stage for a strong holiday selling season. The SSR Distributors North Dealer Show is set for May 2023 and the date will be announced.”

David Glasgow, Chet Weddle and Aziz Masti from KICKER’s Stillwater OK HQ are joining Mark Baker with the Celsus UK team on site.

Yesterday, Sunday November 13th, the 12volt Central Studios made numerous posts from the SSR Distributors Show in Houston. Nearly 30 exhibitors were in the house with industry representatives from both coasts traveling to Houston to present their products to dealers from across the territory SSR covers. There will be much more to come from the SSR Houston Show.
