The 12volt Specialist Hosts Northeastern Arc Audio Integration and DSP Training Sessions

MILFORD, CT (07.28.23) – On Tuesday, July 25th, the 12volt Specialist rep firm and Arc Audio hosted the Northeastern Arc Audio Integration and DSP Training at Speed of Sound Technologies in Milford CT. Brian Mitchell, Arc Audio National Sales Manager, conducted the session utilizing his amazing pickup truck studio that features large monitor screens mounted in the truck’s bed for presentations. Just this past weekend the vehicle participated in the Steel Valley Regional in Wheeling WV.

Brian Mitchell has the undivided attention of all during the Arc Audio presentation at Speed of Sound on Tuesday, July 25th.

Phil Chartier, 12volt Specialist firm principal, related “The training session definitely hit the mark. Milton Benevides, Speed of Sound Technologies owner, was kind enough to let us utilize his beautiful shop for the training session. The setup in the install bay had 18 attendees seated by Brian’s truck for the presentation. Following the presentation Arc Audio provided a delicious BBQ spread that all enjoyed.”

The large monitors mounted on the truck bed make it easy to grasp Mitchell’s Arc Audio DSP presentation.

In a phone conversation Milton Benevides commented “Everyone was totally focused on Brian’s presentation. The setup in his pickup is so hands-on and functional. No doubt dealers who attended the training, and I, will be prepared and ready to deliver the Arc Audio DSP experience to customers in our stores.”

The trailer loaded with 2 vehicles that were on the Steel Valley Regional XII event floor.

“Having Brian in the territory is terrific. At 12volt Specialist we opened our new office and training center in Merrimack NH very recently and on July 16th and 17th hosted our first DSP training session. Ken Ward presented the latest from Audison Forza DSP amplifiers to 18 dealers from the area who attended. Brian’s second Arc Audio training in the territory is scheduled in the 12volt Specialist HQ Thursday July 27th and we anticipate a solid turnout of dealers….stay tuned for more” Chartier stated.

The Speed of Sound showroom makes an amazing in-store impression with customers.

Brian Mitchell definitely is logging some miles from Arc Audio’s HQ in Modesto CA on the trip to participate at the Steel Valley Regional and trainings in the Northeast with Phil and the 12volt Specialist team. Siri says the trip is over 2500 miles one way.

The Arc Audio pickup is towing a trainer with two additional vehicles that were also on the event floor at the SVRXII in Wheeling WVA. Bet that adds up to lots of points on a gas card.

DIAMOND BAR, CA (07.27.23) – The 2023 SEMA Show in Las Vegas will provide attendees the unique opportunity to become electric-vehicle (EV) certified as part of a new SEMA Education initiative to create a more robust career- and professional-development program year-round.

On Monday, October 30, early arriving attendees and exhibitors can gain a new understanding of EV powertrains in an intimate, hands-on session capped at 20 participants during “Electric Vehicles 101 Presented by Legacy EV.” Register here.

“This course will provide a brand-agnostic and hands-on training opportunity for automotive techs to upskill themselves with a new understanding of EV powertrains. The one-day training will focus on the fundamental functions of electric powertrains and explore key high voltage safety practices,” said Pamela Brown-Matthis, SEMA director of education. “And, most notably, trainees who complete this course will receive an EV101 certification from Legacy EV.”

Greg Snowden (above right) of Revolt Systems will join curriculum specialists Baily Soto and Tom Santilli of Legacy EV for the full-day program, detailed below.

Program Schedule:

9:00 a.m.-12:10 p.m.

“Understanding EV Anatomy and Electrical Theory”

Learning how EVs work begins with understanding what is inside them and then the fundamentals of how they are powered. The topics will be covered during the first session, giving attendees an overview of the components that make up an EV, their functions and the electrical theory that gives them modern performance. Core ideas covered will include EV components and systems, Ohm’s law, Watt’s law and electric circuits using models, mathematics and computational thinking.

In this session, attendees will discover and understand:

  • What systems are needed to make a functional EV?
  • What are the functions and essential specifications of EV components?
  • How can we model the behavior of electricity in a wire with water and a hose?

12:10 p.m.-12:50 p.m.

Break

12:50 p.m.-4:00 p.m.

“Applications With EV Specifications, EV Tooling, HV Safety”

Knowing how EV works is important, but being able to apply that knowledge is where the learning truly brings value. The second session will provide the fundamentals of high-voltage (HV) safety compliance and attendees will apply their knowledge from the morning session with safety best practices while working on real EV powertrains. Attendees will use EV tools and equipment, zero voltage verification, block diagrams and vehicle specifications.

In this session, attendees will discover and understand:

  • How can we use EV components specifications to determine and improve vehicle performance?
  • How do I use a digital multimeter to measure voltage, current, resistance and continuity in a HV circuit?
  • How might I arrange and wire EV components to fit an ICE vehicle and chassis?
  • How do I perform a certified HV disconnection procedure?
  • How do I verify that my system is de-energized or zero voltage verified (ZVV)?

The cost to attend “Electric Vehicles 101 presented by Legacy EV” is $600 per attendee. Legacy EV will allow participants to apply the session cost ($600) toward a full Legacy EV Certified Technician certification course. Register here.

SEMA Show management is dedicated to making the event as cost-effective as possible for all. Register at SEMAShow.com/register for just $60 through September 29 and $120 after that date.

SEMA Battle of the Builders Celebrates 10 Years of Providing Builders a Global Platform to Showcase Their Skills

DIAMOND BAR, CA (07.21.23) – Registration for the 2023 SEMA Battle of the Builders, the aftermarket industry’s ultimate vehicle competition, is now open at www.semabotb.com. The program is celebrating 10 years of providing SEMA Show builders a platform to showcase their craftsmanship and skills to a worldwide audience.

“The SEMA Show is synonymous with the most unique vehicles in the world, and for 10 years the Battle of the Builders program has given the builders of these vehicles an opportunity to showcase their imagination, creativity, and craftsmanship at an international level,” said RJ de Vera, SEMA vice president of marketing. “This year’s program will feature the top builders and brands exhibiting at the 2023 SEMA Show as we crown our 10th Battle of the Builders Champion.”

Since 2014, Battle of the Builders has catapulted SEMA Show builders to fame through exposure in SEMA’s communication and social channels and inclusion in a one-hour television special. The competition recognizes one winner in four different categories — Hot Rod & Hot Rod Truck; 4 Wheel Drive & Off-Road; Sport Compact, Import Performance, Luxury & Exotic; and Young Guns — before crowning and overall Battle of the Builders Champion.

The Young Guns category, open to builders 29 years and younger, is part of SEMA’s initiative to support and encourage the next generation of builders in the industry. All Young Guns entries submitted before August 15 have the opportunity to compete in one or more virtual Golden Ticket competitions for the chance to win a prize package that includes transportation of the vehicle to the SEMA Show.

“The SEMA Young Guns competition was the single-most powerful tool for me to turn my passion for building cars into a full-time career,” said Kyle Kuhnhausen, winner of the 2018 Young Guns title and current Battle of the Builders judge. “The media coverage that followed after winning the category took me from a relatively unknown young builder to self-employment building hot rods full time just months later. I’m still building hot rods, and the phone is still ringing as I continue feeling the benefits of the competition and now get to judge that category.”

Arrowhead Sales and Marketing with the JBL/Infinity Demo Trailer Were Cruisin’ in Independence, MO… Jammin’ N July Too

12VOLT CENTRAL STUDIOS (07.19.23) – ‘Jammin’ N July’… Chris Pace, Arrowhead Sales and Marketing, is doing just that with the firms JBL/Infinity demo trailer. It’s Summertime and time for 12volt industry members to ‘Crank It Up’ to connect with consumers and drive sales!

The JBL Demo Trailer had a great position at the end of an aisle.

On Saturday evening, July15th, in Independence MO Pace was set up with the JBL/Infinity demo trailer on the Noland Road Cruisin’ Strip. “Along the Noland Road strip of a couple miles there are 3 shopping centers that allow car shows and demos to take place. Noland Road is a magnet for classic cars and hot rods. The center we were in has an AutoZone which is obviously a draw for vehicles. Food trucks also pass along the strip to make this a very busy time from 6 until 10 PM” Pace related.

The JBL demos take place on both sides… with one side dedicated to motorcycle and marine speakers.
Car Craft Magazine named Noland Road one of the top Cruise Srips in the USA a few years back.

Adding “I pulled in with our JBL/Infinity demo trailer and had a great spot at the end of a parking aisle. A door on each side of the trailer flips up and we have demos setup between JBL/Infinity speakers and various brands. One side is set up just to demo marine and motorcycle…Powerbars too. I know there were over 50 demos that really opened peoples ears and eyes. I also directed consumers to several local shops to stop in and add some JBL and Infinity to their rides.”

There was action late in the evening to hear demos of the 24 pairs of speakers on the trailer.
The Arrowhead Sales JBL/Infinity trailer is 5’ wide and 8’ long and has been a 3 year project from scratch to this point. Additional graphics are in the works plus a 2-sided banner for the top to draw more attention at events. Batteries on board can drive demos for 8 hours.

Concluding “More shows are popping up and dealers are contacting Arrowhead to bring the JBL/Infinity trailer as another draw to get draw attention to their stores. In Independence we opened a lot of eyes with the Bass Pro Hub. No one new it existed and it’s so perfect for a classic car trunk.”
