The 12volt Spin-To-Win Wheel rolled for the 278th time on Friday morning June 28th. The Wheel landed on the Maximum Power space and the SOS Electronics slip was drawn from the jar. An Instagram post of the winning slip was posted. A video of the Wheel spin was also posted.

CLEARWATER, FL (06.28.24) – Elite Distributor Alliance (EDA) hosted its annual owners meeting at the beautiful Hyatt Regency in Clearwater, Florida the week of June 17th.

The four-day event was lead by the EDA’s 11 distributor members and included over 30 industry leaders from EDA partner vendors.  Discussions centered around strategy and execution, with one-hour one-on-one sessions between EDA principals and vendors. Multiple open discussion sessions addressed various aspects of the 12-volt industry.

In addition to the business meetings, attendees enjoyed several social events, including a dinner cruise on the Yacht Starship IV. The sunset over the Gulf and the sights of Clearwater Harbour provided a perfect backdrop for an evening of relaxation and networking.

“Our annual owners meeting allows us to focus on strategies to expand our vendor partners’ footprint with our dealers,” said Josh Eatherly, Executive Vice President of EDA. “The meticulous preparation by our vendors for this meeting is a testament to the strong partnerships we have built.”

“The one-on-one sessions with our EDA distributors are invaluable” said Jason Kaminski, Managing Director of Firstech. “It’s fantastic to strategize with so many key partners in one place.”

“Our annual EDA Sales Meeting has become the most important event of the year for us.” Said Nate Taliani, President of EDA and VP of Davis Distribution.  “The one-on-one meetings between our members and vendor partners provide a platform for collaboration, helping us strengthen relationships and strategically grow our business together. This year’s meeting was hands down the most productive and enjoyable event to date.”

“Coming out of the COVID bump of previous years, we have been working on forecasting the ‘new normal,’” said Steve Cote, Director of Sales at JVC. “The EDA membership has demonstrated that collective execution is a recipe for success.”

ATLANTA, GA (06.27.24) – SkillsUSA prepares students for the workforce and students in the Mobile Electronics Division are competing for recognition at the National Competition in Atlanta. The conference is taking pace at the Georgia World Conference Center in Atlanta June 24th-28th and has attracted over 6500 competitors in 110 competitions.

KICKER Audio is a strong supporter of the SkillsUSA initiative. Aaron Malin, TECH Force Global Training Manager, has participated in previous SkillsUSA National Conferences. Malin and Jacob Luckey, KICKER Global Trainer, arrived in Atlanta onTuesday and spent the day setting up for the 2024 Skills USA Conference.

“Each student prepared to perform to their best abilities for the judges at regional events in states across the US. Some of the stations included soldering, wiring speakers and identifying components. Students were judged on their proficiency in those particular skills and only the top qualified for this year’s Convention in Atlanta. KICKER participated in local (Stillwater) and state (Meridian Technology Center in Stillwater) Skills USA competitions this spring in preparation for the National Competition” Malin stated.

Continuing “Wednesday morning all got underway with the competition sessions with a lot of excitement throughout the center. Scott Dilbeck from Sky High Car Audio is in the house and helped with set up and judged a radio installation session. James Simpson from Vickers AV and Soundsations is on site helping with judging. Industry vertean Bryan Gary volunteed and also helping with judging. Erin Smith came from Savannah Technial College too. One competitor from last year came to judge this year.”

SkillsUSA works to bring motivated individuals to the workforce and teach them lifelong skills. There were local, state and national competitions with all states participating, according to SkillsUSA.org. Its mission is to empower its members to become world-class workers, leaders and responsible American citizens.

The 12-volt industry is in need of more sharp-minded employees to bring new ideas to the table. The overall employment of mobile electronics installers and technicians is projected to show little to no change from 2021 to 2031, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics years.Through SkillsUSA, students have the opportunity to learn valuable lessons and make lifelong friends.

“It is always exciting when you see the ‘lightbulb’ moment as something really clicks in the mind of a student. The ‘ah hah!’ that lets you know they really got it! Last year at the national competition in Atlanta, one young man was so excited to introduce me to his mom and siblings after we really connected during his job interview competition. He experienced my admiration and his family’s proud moment, all at the same time” Malin concluded.

“Students not only receive valuable skills from these events, but also priceless communication skills. From difficult interviews, to speaking with industry professionals and presenting their skills they also learn difficult communication skills” stated Chris Jack, Technical Chairperson for mobile electronics installation, for SkillsUSA. “My father always said that “I don’t care if you’re going to wipe up dirt off the floor, wear a suit and tie to an interview…no matter what it’s for.”

DANVERS, MA (06.26.24) – Auto Sound in Danvers MA hosted an Alpine Experience event on Tuesday, June 18th

Alpine’s Colette Beaudoin and Colin Vargo were onsite to orchestrate the day’s event positioned in front of the Auto Sound’s busy street location. The Alpine Experience Silverado was featured with an Alpine tent and multiple Alpine flags waving in the breeze. A bright red Miata was positioned close by and loaded with an Alpine system.

“Colette and Colin brought both of their vehicles. The Alpine Silverado featured the incredible Optim8 that all need to hear to believe. Colette had her Subaru that was loaded with an equally impressive system” Andy Sussman, Director of Operations, related.

Continuing “The Auto Sound Mazda Miata featured an Active Alpine 3-way setup along with dual 12” Alpine subs molded into the rear after a convertible top was deleted. The Mazda is powered by triple Alpine amps and big screen 511 in the dash. We had a super turnout and all enjoyed the Alpine Experience.”

After all was set for the event to begin a live Instagram video was streamed that really set the stage for the event with co-owner Ron Needleman inviting followers to come check out the Alpine Experience. In his time in the live video Vargo invited all to bring their favorite music and come take a seat in the Silveratio for a listening experience they had never previously experienced.

“The Alpine Experience at Auto Sound definitely connected with customers. When customers listened to their favorite music in the Silverado their eyes got wide and they were thinking….WOW my ride doesn’t sound like this!” Vargo offered

Special pricing for Alpine products was offered along with a raffle and all enjoyed hamburgers and hot dogs from the grille.

The Alpine Exerience 2024 at Auto Sound in Danvers MA set the stage for the 2025 Alpine Experience.

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO (06.25.24) – On Saturday evening June 22nd well over 300 vehicles rolled onto the lot outside of The Car Audio Shop store in Maryland Heights MO. Dan Castro and Shawn Montgomery were behind the wheel of this event to bring the car audio community together in the suburb of St. Louis.

Castro and Montgomery related “This was really our first event and it was terrific. The parking lot in front of the store was absolutely packed. Chris Pace had the Arrowhead Sales JBL trailer out front. Tommy Spears had a great rig with Ground Zero and Richard Wong drove over 600 miles from Dallas to demo his Tacoma for attendees. We had our shop truck outback with other shop cars spotted around. We had food with two food trucks on site so everyone at the event had a fun filled evening enjoying music!”

Chris Pace, Arrowhead Sales, offered “Dan and Shawn had me right out front with the JBL trailer. Through the night attendees were able to experience the great lineup of JBL and Infinity speakers that were live and rocking in the trailer. We Dared All To Listen. The Car Audio Shop event capped a very busy week and it was a great way to see a proactive dealer connecting with consumers.”

The Car Audio Shop showroom was open but sales were not the main thing on the agenda. Letting consumers know the brands they stock and the quality of work they deliver was something that provided a tremendous amount of visibility for marketing their brand to the local car audio community.

Another event is tentatively scheduled for October.

WTF… Where’s The Fun……On the next spin of the 12volt Spin-To-Win Wheel 278 on Friday, June 28th.

SANFORD, ME (06.21.24) – Sanford Sound hosted an Alpine Experience on Wednesday, June 19th. The Alpine Experience Chevy Pickup rolled in with Colin Vargo, Alpine Brand Specialist, behind the wheel. Vargo was joined by Alpine Direct Representative Colette Beaudoin and the setup took place early on the warm sunny Wednesday.

Jack Bogard, and the Sanford Sound crew, had the grounds in front of the store well prepared. Days prior to the event Alpine flags were in place out front with a lot of social media posts encouraging all to attend the Alpine Experience were on social media. All were encouraged to have their favorite music ready to play in the Chevy to hear what they had been missing.

“We had many phone calls leading up to the event and people started showing up early Wednesday morning. Colin and Colette did many demos during the day with people seated in the Alpine Chevy. All were amazed when their demo was finished. We had asked people to bring their favorite song for a demo. Those who did let us know their favorite song had never sounded like that as they heard something like a live concert. One young customer came in wanting a pair of 12” subs for his new Ford pickup. I mentioned the system in the truck with 8s. I finally got him to get a demo from Colin. He did and we sold him a system with the 8 inch subs” Bogard stated.

During the day sales were strong as customers made bigger ticket purchases. There was pizza for and the product raffle contest run through the week. More customers booked appointments and business is set to continue from the event through the coming weeks.

“I want to thank my wife Christine who worked through the day as well as Kevin, Tim, Justin and team members who contributed to make the event a super success. A very big thank you to our business partner Alpine. It is terrific Alpine understands how important it is to connect with enthusiasts on the brick and mortar showroom floor” Bogard concluded.

Since Sanford Sound opened in 1995, with Jack Bogard behind the wheel, the company has proactively worked to connect with consumers and organizations by hosting events in the store, in the store’s parking lot and grounds plus at off-site events. Today, Sanford Sound is the established store for audio in-vehicle, Powersports, marine and motorcycles across the area. Home AV and office activities are also on the menu.

Sanford, ME is a town of just over 22,000. Over the past 25+ years the Sanford Sound has stretched well beyond the town’s borders throughout the region.

DIAMOND BAR, CA (06.20.24) – The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) has announced the results of the 2024-2025 SEMA Board of Directors elections, with Bill Bader of Summit Motorsports Park, Doug Lane of Motor State Distributing, Kelle Oeste of V8TV Speed & Resto Shop, Kim Pendergast of Magnuson Superchargers, and Melissa Scoles of QA1 elected to serve on the Board. Pendergast is a current SEMA Board member who was re-elected to join the group.

SEMA Board members are industry representatives who volunteer their time to lead and guide the Association. They are elected by SEMA-member companies and represent the key membership categories: manufacturers, distributors/retailers, manufacturers’ rep, and services.

WASHOUGAL, WA (06.19.24) – The Falcon Sales and AM Merchandising Dealer Show definitely provided an opportunity for vendors and reps to connect with dealers through out the area Thursday and Friday June 13th and 14th.

Prior to the event Scott Chapin said “The Show gonna be a party and we would love to have area dealers come and join us to take advantage of incredible deals, food & beverages and FUN!! Turns out he was spot on!

Demo vehicles were onsite and several dealers brought their cars to show off while at the show. The warehouse was packed with great deals and tables in the aisles with specials. The free goodies and some giveaways plus Friday evening raffles added to the excitement.
Importantly all of this while dealers checked out new products and networked with fellow industry members.

Scott Chapin, Mike Hall, Kam Frisbee and Dave Gates were on site from Falcon Sales & Marketing. Tom Miller and Randy Harcourt travelled up from Oakland CA to showcase all from AM Merchandising.

Kam Frisbee, who recently joined Falcon stated “It was such a super event. I had talked to many of the shops over the past couple of years working with Metra. It was terrific to meet them in person. Many said this was their first time to come to the Falcon HQ and they were very impressed plus too advantage of the great deals and fun atmosphere.”

Brands in the house included Morel, Jensen, PowerBass, Wet Sounds, UTV Stereo, Sound Skins, KICKER, Massive Audio and Sony. Factory vehicles on site included KICKER, Alpine and UTV Stereo.nDealer cars added to the vehicles on the grounds.

Massive Audio’s John Velez related “JR Mares and I had a great show. We showed new products new plus offered dealers a chance to win a new GTR8 sub. By coming to the show dealers experienced our broad line in person. Edgar Gonzales from Unique Audio, the NW Territory Massive Audio dealer of the Year 2023, was in the house and it was super to meet him and thank him for the strong support.”

Jeff Falk traveled from Florida the show the PowerBass line to dealers under a large tent. With the Powersports category being strong Falk related the SoundBars were a hot with dealers.

Jeff Petersen, with UTV Stereo, stated “The PowerSports category is hot and we have the widest selection of products. We cranked it up the volume on Dave Gates’ Polaris Pro R 4, loaded with UTV Stereo gear shook the ground.”

Industry veteran Doug Kern, who recently joined Dual and Jensen for the Western US, was in the house. “NW dealers loved the new Jensen line up of Wireless CarPlay/AndroidAuto. The opening price points are great along with the feature set and 3 year warranty. Also new to dealers was the new Dash/Window Mount wireless CP/AA that is perfect when s customer doesn’t was to change their dashboard.”

Rob Sutton with Crossover Marketing made the trip from Oregon was thrilled to see the enthusiasm of dealers in the house. Crossover Marketing recently was appointed the rep firm for KICKER and the Dealer Show was the perfect opportunity to show the KICKER lineup to many dealers.

Chapin concluded “The are definitely looking forward to next year as is AM Merchandising. Many dealers took advantage of the local motel offer and several closed their shops and attended the show both days. We definitely appreciate all the support from our vendors and reps for working with us to put together this super Dealer Show.”
