Alpine Electronics Now Shipping the PXE-X09 16-Channel Hi-Res Wireless Digital Sound Processor

AUBURN HILLS, MI (09.02.2020) – Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. is now shipping the PXE-X09 16-Channel Hi-Res Wireless Digital Sound Processor. With 16 input and output channels and on-board tuning tools, the PXE-X09 will bring out the full potential of your music for a better sound experience.

OEM Integration
Modern factory systems pose a challenge to the discerning audio enthusiast who craves a premium music experience in their vehicle. With multi-channel sound systems pre-tuned to the specific vehicle environment and highly integrated displays that don’t have dedicated outputs for amplifiers, factory setups make it challenging to add aftermarket speakers or amplifiers without replacing the factory head unit.

Alpine’s new PXE-X09 has 16 channels of input and output that can manage even the most advanced factory sound systems and achieve a clean, full signal from the factory head unit.

The PXE-X09 hosts a collection of tuning tools such as the built-in signal generator and an on-board Real-Time Analyzer to help empower the tuner. Using these tools alongside the 10-band input EQ, 31 Band Parametric Output EQ, 1hz-step crossover, and up to 20ms of Time Correction, a tuner can dial in their system to perfection.

Configuration Wizard
When trying to add speakers or amplify a sound system while retaining the factory head unit, a mobile audio specialist would have to grab all signals and sum them together to create one full-range signal, while also re-tuning what the vehicle manufacturer pre-tuned. With this flattened, full-range signal, the specialist would then amplify and output to upgraded speakers. This is very challenging without costly tools, training, and equipment as the mobile audio specialist may not know what signals are going to each speaker and may not have a way to sum them together.

The PXE-X09 seeks to solve this problem with the Configuration Wizard, a tool that allows the tuner to specify the components in a factory system, as well as the target aftermarket system layout, and then appropriately serve up only the appropriate channels in the app’s home screen, as well as logically mix the channels to get a full range signal for further tuning.

The Configuration Wizard, along with the other on-board tuning tools, can be accessed wirelessly via Bluetooth from a smartphone or tablet or through a wired USB connection for PC. By downloading the free PXE-X09 DSP app (available on the App Store or Google Play), customers can get real-time tuning results and compare them with the “Before” and “After” effect. Tuning files can be saved directly to a smartphone, hard drive, or thumb drive for storage and shared via text message or email.

Music on Command
Quick sound adjustments can be made with the included LCD remote controller, which can be flush-mounted on the dash for easy access. The rotary knob can quickly adjust volume, preset storage and recall, subwoofer level, and source selection with results displayed on the LED screen.

While the PXE-X09 was designed to integrate into modern factory systems, it can also be used as a head unit or music source in older vehicles. The PXE-X09 can receive music sent directly from a smartphone with Bluetooth wireless streaming, so customers can listen to their playlists without replacing the factory head unit or adding an aftermarket head unit.

The PXE-X09 is now shipping for $1399.95 and will be available at Alpine Authorized retailers or online at www.alpine-usa.com through Crutchfield. Installation options can be found on the Alpine-USA website through the store locator.

KICKER Was Livin’ Loud at OC Jeep Week… The Weather Too

OCEAN CITY, MD (08.31.2020) – KICKER was the Title Sponsor of OC Jeep Week for the 4th year running. Like so many things in today’s COVID-19 Pandemic world, KICKER’S presence changed at OC Jeep Week 2020.

Opus Marketing and Audioworks of Delaware Teams under the KICKER tent on Day-1.

KICKER staff members have not traveled during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Thus the KICKER XRV, normally with a major presence at the OC Jeep Week event, remained in Stillwater OK. The decision was made to continue with the Title Sponsorship and have a presence at the event with a key area retailer. The Opus Marketing rep firm, with all team members on site, coordinated KICKER’S presence at the event with area retailer Audioworks of Delaware. Darren Thomas, and his crew of 4, set up a large sales tent along with 4 additional KICKER tents for the installation of onsite sales.

Attendance was very good the first 2 days at OC Jeep Week.

“KICKER has been the Title Sponsor of OC Jeep Week for the past 4 years. KICKER receives a tremendous amount of brand awareness. The Jeep crowd in an awesome bunch of fun-loving, family oriented folks and Jeep Week always makes for a great event. With Opus Marketing and dealer Audioworks of Delaware handling the event the stage was set for another great OC Jeep Week” KICKER HQ related.

Jeepers, stretching into the distance, enjoyed the beach in Ocean City until the weather rolled into the area.

The Opus Marketing Team was headed by firm Principal Jamie White along with Bruno Berg, Chuck Ottati and Todd Ess. KICKER’S Eastern Regional Matt Matheson, who could not travel, was onsite in the form of a cool standup created by the Opus Team. With a smile and wave Matt was everywhere at OC Jeep Week 2020. The Audioworks of Delaware Team included Owner Darren Thomas, Kyle Kessler, Tim Foltz and Pete Herr.

Installations were going strong for the first 2 days of OC Jeep Week 2020.

“Audioworks of Delaware has been a great KICKER dealer for a long time now. They have wanted to participate in this event for a few years now and we were excited to be able to work with them finally this year. They loaded up with product and were on site in full-force creating sales and installs on site” Matheson stated.

Matt Matheson gives a big wave with the Audioworks of Delaware Team. Kyle Kessler, Tim Foltz and Darren Thomas owner of Audioworks of Delaware (LtoR).

With all in place OC Jeep Week 2020 kicked off on Thursday, August 27th. Day-1 saw good attendance with strong sales and all the installation tents filled. The OC Jeep Week KICKER Event party was well attended at Alley Oops that evening. With COVID-19 mandates this was the only scheduled evening event.

Heavy wind and rain blew through early Saturday morning sending tents through the air and bending frames.

Friday, Day-2, was equally productive with the Audioworks of Delaware and Opus Marketing Teams driving sales and installations.

Matt Matheson helped customers with questions about installations.

All changed in the early morning hours Saturday morning as remnants of Hurricane Laura, that devastated southern Louisiana Wednesday night, blew across Ocean City. Opus Marketing’s White related “When we got to the event site the tents had been blown around, were upside down and mangled. We cleared the booth area and reconfigured the tables. Stock for the event had been placed in an Audioworks of Delaware trailer so we were good to set up and start selling on Saturday morning.”

By noon Saturday the weather reports called for more bad weather approaching. By mid-afternoon the decision was made to take every thing down, pack the trailer and put a wrap on KICKER’S booth at OC Jeep Week 2020.

Mangled KICKER large tent frame Saturday morning.

“All was on track to have a very strong total of KICKER sales. The pace was track to do that over the first 2 days and part of the 3rd day. Saturday’s business included a lot of take with sales before we packed and hit the road” White concluded.

DS18 Said ‘We Like It Loud’ At The Smoky Mountain Jeep Invasion

PIGEON FORGE, TN (08.27.2020) – DS18 had a major presence on the grounds at the Smokey Mountain Jeep Invasion Thursday through Saturday, August 20th-22nd. The 3 big red DS18 tents, with the Big Bad Wolf highlighted, drew a big crowd of Jeepers throughout the event…despite the rain and winds. On Friday, strong winds sent some vendor tents into the air.

With the DS18 red tents, lower left, this image shows the scope of the outdoor area.

Rob Ferro, Mr DS18, along with Hery spent the days showing attendees all the latest from DS18. Jeep Gladiators and Wranglers, from DS18 Jeep Fans, also added to the excitement under the DS18 tents.

There was always a crowd around the DS18 booth with many Jeepers taking shots with their smartphones of the great demo vehicle installations.

Ferro relayed “Reports from the Jeep Invasion promoters said there were over 9000 Jeeps at the event. The total attendance was reported to top 20,000. In addition to the huge area outside, where DS18 was set up, the Le Conte Center was filled with vendors in the 100,000 foot facility.”

Even at night Jeepers could tell DS18 was saying “We Like It Loud.”

Continuing, Ferro offered “There was such a great vibe at the event. We worked with people in the booth to maintain social distancing and most understood. Quite a number of Jeepers in the booth commented about the design of our pods and the DS18 RGB lighting. All said that DS18 was the best.”

Rob Ferro-Mr DS18, surrounded by show stopping demos, embodied the great vibe at the Smoky Mountain Jeep Invasion.

DS18 was front and center at after show events too. All in all it was quite a journey for the DS18 crew as they drove the DS18 pickup, with Jeeps on a trailer, the 968 miles from Miami FL to Pigeon Forge, TN.

The journey to the Jeep Invasion was normal, but mechanical truck issues caused delays on the return to DS18 HQ in Miami.

Concluding, Ferro offered on a Facebook post “So I have been driving for 2 days and haven’t had an opportunity to thank everyone for the tremendous support and for those that drove hundreds of miles to show us your Jeeps and amazing builds. The energy you gave us is out of this galaxy. We are proud to have each and every one of you on our team. You are the best.”

Pioneer Expands Aftermarket Automotive Driver Assistance with New Blind Spot Detection Systems

LOS ANGELES, CA (08.26.2020) – Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. has announced the launch of its Blind Spot Detection (BSD) System lineup, the SDA-BS900, SDA-BS100 and SDA-BS1. The lineup, a first for Pioneer in the U.S. market, provides consumers with an aftermarket solution that adds technology to assist drivers by notifying them when there is a vehicle entering their blind spot zone1.

While driving, the Pioneer BSD System can detect vehicles to the rear and in the lanes to the left and right. The system signals the driver with a flashing light indicating the direction of the detection (left or right) and if the driver has engaged the turn signal in the corresponding direction, the system will also produce an audible buzzer warning. All three systems can also detect cross traffic approaching from the left or right entering the vehicle’s blind spot zone while slowly backing out of a parking spot or driveway, activating both the corresponding left or right flashing light and audible buzzer warning.

“Pioneer’s Blind Spot Detection System portfolio reinforces our commitment to developing products that allow consumers to update almost any vehicle on the road today with newer technology and features,” said Ted Cardenas, VP of Marketing for Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. “Blind spot detection assists drivers so they can practice more attentive driving habits whether they are changing lanes or reversing their vehicle.”

All three BSD Systems utilize microwave radar sensor technology for object detection and GPS for determining the current speed of the vehicle, and include left/right LED indicator lights, an audible buzzer speaker and all necessary cables and sensor calibration template (SDA-BS900).

The Pioneer Blind Spot Detection lineup includes:

  • SDA-BS900 (Suggested price: $900): The SDA-BS900 places a microwave radar array module behind both the left and right corners of the vehicle’s rear bumper2. When properly installed, this design results in extended blind spot coverage range up to 82 feet with the ability to detect both vehicles that are approaching from behind and vehicles that are being passed. Additionally, because the ingress protection rated3 microwave radar array modules install under the rear bumper cover, the system is cosmetically integrated with no visible or exposed sensors. The left and right LED indicator lights are designed to be surface mounted in the vehicle interior and include both silver and black colored covers.
  • SDA-BS100 / SDA-BS1 (Suggested price: $500): The SDA-BS100 and SDA-BS1 are unique, placing the microwave radar array in an ingress protection rated3 bar designed to be installed on the vehicle’s center mounted rear license plate. This design simplifies installation, eliminating the need to remove any exterior body panels or bumper covers, while also expanding vehicle compatibility to include vehicles with either plastic or metal bumpers and the flexibility to be mounted to the top or bottom of the license plate. The SDA-BS100 and SDA-BS1 provide blind spot detection of vehicles approaching from behind with a coverage range of up to 50 feet. The left and right LED indicator lights are designed to be surface mounted in the vehicle interior. The SDA-BS100 includes both silver and black colored LED indicator light covers, while the SDA-BS1 includes only black.

Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc., headquartered in Torrance, Calif., is a preeminent manufacturer of leading-edge technology solutions for the mobile electronics aftermarket. Its affiliate Pioneer Automotive Technologies (PAT) is a key supplier for Tier 1 automotive entertainment systems and components to vehicle manufactures.
