VOXX Automotive and ESS Ink Deal to Make H.E.L.P. Intelligent Emergency Communications Widely Available

ORLANDO, FL (08.30.22) – VOXX Automotive Corp. is partnering with Emergency Safety Solutions, Inc. (ESS), creator of the Hazard Enhanced Location Protocol (H.E.L.P.™️) which revolutionizes vehicle hazard warning systems to prevent crashes into disabled and vulnerable vehicles and their occupants, to make H.E.L.P. available to virtually every passenger and commercial vehicle on the road.

“VOXX Automotive is proud to partner with Emergency Safety Solutions to assist in bringing their H.E.L.P. feature to market. There are more than 280 million vehicles on the road today in the U.S. that would benefit from this lifesaving technology being built in, which presents an incredible roadway safety opportunity,” said Pat Lavelle, President and Chief Executive Officer, VOXX International Corporation. “The interfacing of enhanced factory hazard lights and GPS-based digital alert technology is cutting edge. Our goal is to greatly reduce these preventable incidents, related injuries, and deaths. This really is a game changer to help us achieve that objective.”

The agreement broadens the availability of lifesaving H.E.L.P. technology, including the manufacturing and distribution of solutions to automakers, Tier 1 suppliers, aftermarket, trucking, and powersports markets to help prevent collisions with all vulnerable vehicles on the roadway.

H.E.L.P. is a regulatory-compliant safety communication solution which provides multiple layers of enhanced protection for disabled vehicles, their occupants and other roadway users including:

  • H.E.L.P. Digital Alerts Notifications sent to oncoming drivers through in-vehicle displays and GPS navigation apps to provide advance warning as they are approaching a disabled vehicle.
  • H.E.L.P. Lighting Alerts – Dramatically improved, scientifically-tuned hazard flash pattern which is proven to signal urgency to oncoming drivers, prompting them to slow down and move over.
  • Intelligent Controls – H.E.L.P. auto deploys when conditions indicate a safety need, such as a collision, tire blowout, driveline failure or inattentive driver takeover (autonomous driving application). Drivers can also activate H.E.L.P. manually when the hazard signal is engaged, and the vehicle is in park.

Under the agreement, VOXX Automotive will design and manufacture OEM accessory and aftermarket kits featuring these products for sale across all VOXX Automotive and ESS sales channels. The scope of the agreement also includes H.E.L.P. DeliverSAFE, a specialized version of H.E.L.P. tailored to the needs of heavy-duty, long-haul, and commercial delivery vehicles.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with VOXX Automotive to bring the benefits of H.E.L.P. to millions of motorists, commercial drivers and fleet owners who otherwise would not have this option,” said David Tucker, Founder, Chairman and President of ESS. “More than 40 people a day across the U.S. don’t make it home every day due to these preventable crashes. This partnership will significantly accelerate the broader adoption of H.E.L.P. to save lives on the road by modernizing the 71-year-old hazard warning system featured on today’s passenger vehicles and commercial trucks.”

KICKER, Audio Works and Opus Marketing Were Livin’ Loud at OC Jeep Week 2022

OCEAN CITY, MD (08.29.22) – KICKER returned as the title sponsor of Ocean City Jeep Week, held August 25-28 2022, at the Ocean City Convention Center and trails around the Ocean City area.

KICKER’s XRV (Xtreme Recreational Vehicle) made the 1400 mile trek to OC Jeep Week and set up in front of the Convention Center entrance. The 82-foot big rig is a rolling showroom, that displayed the full line of KICKER audio products for UTV, motorcycle, marine and auto. The XRV’s upgraded Boom Room is larger, louder and built to withstand the torture emanating from 40,000 watts of power driving the wall of 15” L7 subwoofers.

The KICKER XRV, with the 717 kickinjeeprod, were magnets for enthusiasts at OC Jeep Week.

Jermey Wynn, KICKER Events and Promotions Manager, was behind the XRV Wheel with Co-Pilot Josh Alexander. Matt Matheson, KICKER Eastern Regional, Training Specialist Ken Bundy and tech-savvy Carlos Jimenez traveled from KICKER HQ to work the event.

Opus Marketing, KICKER Rep Firm in the area, worked the event with product sales and logistic support. Jamie White’s Opus Marketing Team on site included White, Bruno Berg and Todd Ess.

The KICKER setup stretched the length of a football field at OC Jeep Week.
The Audio Works of Delaware crew was busy from the opening bell making installs underneath the lineup of KICKER  tents.

Next to the XRV, authorized KICKER dealer Audio Works (Newark DE) installed audio systems on-site for the entire show. Audio Works offered several KICKER packages made especially for Jeeps. Owner Darren Thomas, with members of his sales and installation team, had Jeep installations going under KICKER tents throughout the event. At OC JEEP Week the Audio Works of Deleware team scheduled numerous appoints for jobs at their Newark DE store that is 90 miles from Atlantic City.

Members of the KICKER, Audio Works of Delaware and Opus Marketing crews gathered for an image after the show closed one evening.

A special attraction this year was the presence of the amazing 717 Car Audio kickinjeeprod. Stephanie Stryjwski and Jeremy Lease trailered the totally custom project to OC Jeep Week from their Mounteville PA store. The lowered and stretched kickinjeeprod definitely is Livin’Loud and was a huge draw for picture takers and enthusiasts at OC Jeep Week.

White related “We look forward to this event every year. It’s especially special when our friends KICKER can make it out and even more fun when they bring the impressive XRV to OC JEEP Week. The weather was terrific this year. Even though we are all sunburned, tired and worn out we all left Ocean City with one of our best event experiences.”

Stephanie Stryjwski and Jeremy Lease pictured in front of the 717 Kickinjeeprod during set up.

Continuing White stated “KICKER coming to OC Jeep Week MD has become a destination for Jeep enthusiasts. It’s unbelievable how many enthusiasts look forward to getting KICKER products installed on-site each year. To show the enthusiasm for KICKER this year 2 of the KICKER enthusiasts had KICKER on their state license plates: LIVIN LD on a Pennsylvania plate and KICKER on a Delaware plate.

Just prior to press time Jeremy Wynn sent a txt at a stop in Efingham IL on the way back to Stillwater. “OC Jeep Week was absolutely a great event with a strong turnout of participants and spectators. Audio Works had a terrific event with sales and onsite installations. We will get back on the road to Stillwater tomorrow” Wynn txt’ed.

After the XRV pack-up and loading was completed Saturday night the KICKER and Opus Marketing teams gathered for an image. Right to left Matt Matheson, Jeremy Wynn, Josh Alexander, Jamie White, Ken Bundy, Todd Ess, Carlos Jimenez, Evan D’Ambrosia and Bruno Berg.

OC Jeep Week had a nonstop event schedule plan for every day of the show, that began with 300 Jeepers cruising the Ocean City sand at the Beach Crawl. The Jeep Jam trail and obstacle course were daily attractions, as was a Kids Zone, live DJ, vendors row and more.

Full event details remain on the OC Jeep Week web page, online at oceancityjeepweek.com. Visit kicker.com for more.

SEMA Offers Worldwide Recognition Through Ultimate Vehicle Competition Battle of the Builders

DIAMOND BAR, CA (08.29.22) – SEMA is calling all SEMA Show car builders to register for SEMA Battle of the Builders, the aftermarket industry’s ultimate vehicle competition. Open exclusively to builders with a car or truck displayed at the annual trade show, the competition celebrates and honors top builders for participating in what many consider to be the pinnacle of automotive events.

“Since 2014, we’ve provided vehicle builders a special platform to showcase their imagination, creativity, and craftsmanship while also fueling the love for competition and pride of accomplishment,” said RJ de Vera, SEMA vice president of marketing. “SEMA Show Exhibitors are tremendously selective with the vehicles they choose to showcase their products, capture attention, and drive traffic to their booths. SEMA Battle of the Builders not only offers an additional avenue for further exposure by featuring the top builders and brands that exhibit at the SEMA Show but also provides a chance for top builders from different genres to learn from each other building meaningful connections as they judge each other’s builds in the final round.”

SEMA Battle of the Builders gives builders to opportunity to gain global recognition, including possible inclusion in a one-hour television special or SEMA’s social channels, and a chance to be recognized and named as the industry’s top builder. The competition recognizes one winner in four different categories— 1) Hot Rod & Hot Rod Truck; 2) 4 Wheel Drive & Off-Road; 3) Sport Compact, Import Performance, Luxury & Exotic; 4) Young Guns —before crowning the coveted title, Battle of the Builders Champion.

The four categories have evolved for the 2022 competition. Hot Rod Trucks will now compete with traditional Hot Rod builds. The former Truck class becomes more focused on 4 Wheel Drive & Off-Road builds while the Sport Compact class is expanded to include Import Performance, Luxury & Exotic builds as well. The age limit for the Young Guns class has also been raised from 27 to 29 years old. As part of SEMA’s initiative to support and encourage the next generation of builders in the industry, the association will continue its SEMA Young Guns category for builders who are 29 and younger.

“Each year, we meet amazing young builders through the Young Guns program,” said de Vera. “It is inspiring to witness the passion, drive, and courage they have to put their blood, sweat, and tears into their projects and to compete with their pride and joy in this competition. To see the industry embrace them as they build a network of contacts and connections that will fuel a lifelong career is exactly why the Young Guns class was created. Fortune definitely favors the brave, and we want to highlight that.”

Although the SEMA Show is a trade-only event, consumers can experience the excitement of the event and see the winning Battle of the Builder vehicles during the SEMA Cruise and at SEMA Ignited (www.semaignited.com), the official SEMA Show after-party taking place from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the West Hall parking lot of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

For more information on the SEMA Battle of the Builders competition or to register, visit www.semabotb.com. The deadline to register is October 14. Calling all builders!

SEMA Research: Forty-Nine Percent of All Late-Model Pickups Modified with Specialty-Equipment Parts

DIAMOND BAR, CA (08.26.22) – New research from the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) finds that 49% of all late-model pickups are modified with specialty-equipment parts.

The finding comes from the new, “2022 SEMA Pickup Accessorization Report,” which is available for download now at www.sema.org/research. The new report provides a comprehensive review of how the pickup accessorization landscape is evolving, including sales forecasts and types of parts pickup accessorizers buy and how they buy them.

“The pickup truck market is the largest segment of the specialty-automotive aftermarket and a key opportunity for businesses,” said SEMA Director of Market Research Gavin Knapp. “SEMA’s newest market report helps members understand where the opportunities are and how to best connect with pickup accessorizers.”

Additional findings from the report include:
Pickup owners spent $16 billion on specialty-equipment parts in 2021
There are more than 29 million late-model (2010 and newer) pickups on the road, and about half of them are modified
62% of late-model pickup accessorizers buy off-road-focused parts for their truck
84% of late-model pickup accessorizers plan to make additional modifications in the near future
45% of specialty-equipment businesses see electric pickups as an opportunity
As pickups remain the single-biggest segment in the specialty-equipment parts market, SEMA’s report will help businesses learn more about pickup owners from the industry, what they do after their parts are installed, and analysis of the emerging markets for compact and electric pickups. Download the “2022 SEMA Pickup Accessorization Report” now at www.sema.org/research.

The report is also the subject of the SEMA Webinar “Understanding the Pickup Accessorization Market” on August 24.

HushMat Insulation Reduces Noise, Vibrations, & More

OLATHE, KS (08.26.22) – High-quality audio is more than just great speakers. HushMat’s insulation greatly reduces or eliminates unwanted vibrations and rattles caused by mid and sub bass. HushMat insulation acts like a filter, purifying the sound coming from your speakers. We offer insulation kits for most popular vehicles and universal kits for vehicles that are not directly supported.

Cars and trucks are nothing more than a tin can with tons of holes in them. This is not the optimal material to reproduce high-quality audio. Thankfully HushMat’s peel-and-stick insulation prevents annoying vibrations that create rattles, limiting the quality of your music.

HushMat’s 100% Made in the USA self-adhesive sheets are easy to install and can be trimmed to fit any spot with normal scissors. Just cut to fit, then peel and stick.

Hush sound, hush heat, hush space. All you need is scissors.

See how easy it is to install by viewing the video above or clicking this link.
