Proactive 12volt retailers are delivering that message to members of their communities and social media followers with posts showcasing their showrooms decked out in the holiday spirit. Those retailers realize the value of the person to person in-store experience.
Ricky Smith’s Audio in Lafayette LA has a long tradition of celebrating the Holiday Season with their community, customers and social media followers. The company is located in the popular South College Center which is home to a number of local retailers. The center’s parking lot spotlights the Holiday Season and encourages their businesses to display the Holiday Season in their respective showrooms. Santa’s Sleigh rolling through the parking lot has already happened this year and will happen every Saturday until Christmas. Ricky Smith’s Audio invites their followers to bring the family on Saturdays for a ride in Santa’s Sleigh.

“Seeing customers smile when they come into the store and comment of the Christmas decorations is always great for us. Many are smiling after making a purchase also. In the showroom we have quite a few boxes wrapped with Christmas paper. The boxes are actually empty and we save them from year to year. We are also setup for our annual support of the Marine Corps Reserve Toy’s For Tots drive. Christmas ornaments, ribbons and lighting around the showroom add to the overall Holiday Season look and feel. The lighted sign on the Center’s sign rotates with our Holiday message as well as storefront decorations” Benit related.

LEESBURG, VA (12.01.23) – SkillsUSA has selected Nathan Bulthuis of Homer Glen, Ill. as the official competitor for Automobile Technology at the 2024 WorldSkills Competition. His technical expert is Mike Elder of Pittsburg, Kan. Bulthuis will represent the United States at the 2024 WorldSkills Competition. The prestigious international event will be held Sept. 10-15, 2024 in Lyon, France.
“The 2024 WorldSkills USA team will have an amazing opportunity to represent SkillsUSA and our nation while undergoing incredibly rigorous training in their craft,” said SkillsUSA Executive Director Chelle Travis. “These team members are making a serious commitment to both their skill development and personal growth that will foster their drive, passion and life’s purpose.”
NATHAN BULTHUIS is the official competitor for Automotive Technology at the 2024 WorldSkills Competition.
Bulthuis is a former student at Lockport Township High School and Joliet (Ill.) Junior College and is attending Southern Illinois University Carbondale with an expected graduation date of May 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Automotive Technology. Bulthuis represented the state of Illinois at the SkillsUSA Championships in 2023 and won a national gold medal in the Automotive Service Technology competition. He says, “Being selected for the 2024 WorldSkills USA team is an amazing opportunity to learn more about my trade and to continuously improve my skills. It is also a great opportunity to be able to represent the United States in an international competition.”
The WorldSkills USA team will compete in several trade areas in the largest international showcase of skilled trades. SkillsUSA will announce the official team sponsors and other team members and their experts over the next few months.
The 47th WorldSkills Competition in 2024 will welcome 1,500 competitors from over 65 countries and regions to take part in 62 skill competitions at Eurexpo Lyon. The competition will showcase dozens of trade skills from construction and building technology, creative arts and fashion, information and communication technology, manufacturing and engineering, social and personal services, and transportation and logistics. Over 250,000 spectators from around the world are expected attend the 2024 competition including students, public policymakers, employers, teachers, trainers, technical experts and government officials.

NEW YORK, NY (12.01.23) – SiriusXM and Major League Baseball announced a five-year extension of their broadcasting agreement. SiriusXM has teamed up with MLB to deliver games to fans around the country since 2005, and will continue to air live play-by-play of every regular season and postseason MLB game, as well as select spring training and Spanish-language game broadcasts, through the 2028 season. SiriusXM will also continue to produce the exclusive MLB Network Radio channel, which delivers live, in-depth MLB talk and analysis 365 days a year.
All MLB games are available to SiriusXM listeners in their cars and on the SiriusXM app. Those listening on the SiriusXM app and in vehicles equipped with SiriusXM’s latest generation 360L platform get access to play-by-play channels dedicated to each of MLB’s 30 clubs. This ensures the listener can hear their favorite team’s announcers for every game, whether they are playing at home or on the road.
The new SiriusXM app, which will begin rolling out on December 14, will offer listeners a more personalized, easy-to-use, lean-back streaming experience that puts discovery at the forefront. A new centralized sports hub ensures fans never have to miss a game, with all the latest live broadcasts, dedicated league and team pages, start of game notifications and more.

The channel will broadcast live from the Baseball Winter Meetings happening next week (Dec. 3-6) in Nashville, TN. MLB Network Radio hosts on site will include former general managers Jim Bowden, Jim Duquette and Steve Phillips, former player Eduardo Perez, and baseball experts Jenny Cavnar and Mike Ferrin. Listeners will hear interviews with many of the executives and managers who are in town, and get up-to-the-moment news and analysis on free agents, trades and other offseason topics from Major League Baseball.
Additionally, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman, hosts of SiriusXM’s popular Baseball Bar-B-Cast podcast, will be in Nashville capturing content and publishing daily podcasts.

On a personal note…This writer, with parts of 7 decades in the mobile electronics industry, began attending CES in Chicago in the early 1970’s. As an award winning Sony distributor principal hosted distributor shows throughout that 4-state territory…even purchasing a Sony Motorhome as a rolling showroom. With dB SpeakerWorks had booths at MERA events plus CES in Vegas. All of those in-person events were terrific. Today, those in-person events are not happening with the same impact. This year’s program included 19 judges from 14 different countries. Each judge carefully reviewed and evaluated over 2,000 product entries at the SEMA Show before selecting the products that they felt would resonate and appeal most to consumers in their home countries.
