KICKER Was Livin’ Loud at OC Jeep Week… The Weather Too

OCEAN CITY, MD (08.31.2020) – KICKER was the Title Sponsor of OC Jeep Week for the 4th year running. Like so many things in today’s COVID-19 Pandemic world, KICKER’S presence changed at OC Jeep Week 2020.

Opus Marketing and Audioworks of Delaware Teams under the KICKER tent on Day-1.

KICKER staff members have not traveled during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Thus the KICKER XRV, normally with a major presence at the OC Jeep Week event, remained in Stillwater OK. The decision was made to continue with the Title Sponsorship and have a presence at the event with a key area retailer. The Opus Marketing rep firm, with all team members on site, coordinated KICKER’S presence at the event with area retailer Audioworks of Delaware. Darren Thomas, and his crew of 4, set up a large sales tent along with 4 additional KICKER tents for the installation of onsite sales.

Attendance was very good the first 2 days at OC Jeep Week.

“KICKER has been the Title Sponsor of OC Jeep Week for the past 4 years. KICKER receives a tremendous amount of brand awareness. The Jeep crowd in an awesome bunch of fun-loving, family oriented folks and Jeep Week always makes for a great event. With Opus Marketing and dealer Audioworks of Delaware handling the event the stage was set for another great OC Jeep Week” KICKER HQ related.

Jeepers, stretching into the distance, enjoyed the beach in Ocean City until the weather rolled into the area.

The Opus Marketing Team was headed by firm Principal Jamie White along with Bruno Berg, Chuck Ottati and Todd Ess. KICKER’S Eastern Regional Matt Matheson, who could not travel, was onsite in the form of a cool standup created by the Opus Team. With a smile and wave Matt was everywhere at OC Jeep Week 2020. The Audioworks of Delaware Team included Owner Darren Thomas, Kyle Kessler, Tim Foltz and Pete Herr.

Installations were going strong for the first 2 days of OC Jeep Week 2020.

“Audioworks of Delaware has been a great KICKER dealer for a long time now. They have wanted to participate in this event for a few years now and we were excited to be able to work with them finally this year. They loaded up with product and were on site in full-force creating sales and installs on site” Matheson stated.

Matt Matheson gives a big wave with the Audioworks of Delaware Team. Kyle Kessler, Tim Foltz and Darren Thomas owner of Audioworks of Delaware (LtoR).

With all in place OC Jeep Week 2020 kicked off on Thursday, August 27th. Day-1 saw good attendance with strong sales and all the installation tents filled. The OC Jeep Week KICKER Event party was well attended at Alley Oops that evening. With COVID-19 mandates this was the only scheduled evening event.

Heavy wind and rain blew through early Saturday morning sending tents through the air and bending frames.

Friday, Day-2, was equally productive with the Audioworks of Delaware and Opus Marketing Teams driving sales and installations.

Matt Matheson helped customers with questions about installations.

All changed in the early morning hours Saturday morning as remnants of Hurricane Laura, that devastated southern Louisiana Wednesday night, blew across Ocean City. Opus Marketing’s White related “When we got to the event site the tents had been blown around, were upside down and mangled. We cleared the booth area and reconfigured the tables. Stock for the event had been placed in an Audioworks of Delaware trailer so we were good to set up and start selling on Saturday morning.”

By noon Saturday the weather reports called for more bad weather approaching. By mid-afternoon the decision was made to take every thing down, pack the trailer and put a wrap on KICKER’S booth at OC Jeep Week 2020.

Mangled KICKER large tent frame Saturday morning.

“All was on track to have a very strong total of KICKER sales. The pace was track to do that over the first 2 days and part of the 3rd day. Saturday’s business included a lot of take with sales before we packed and hit the road” White concluded.

SEMA Announces eMarketplace Solution to Take Place November 2 – 6

DIAMOND BAR, CA (08.31.2020) – The Specialty Equipment Market Association is offering an online marketplace to allow manufacturers and resellers in the specialty automotive segment to connect and conduct business. Taking place Nov. 2-6, SEMA360 was created after industry members expressed a need for a viable marketplace solution in the absence of the 2020 SEMA Show.

“Creating a platform where the industry can gather and discover new products and trends has always been a SEMA priority,” said Chris Kersting, SEMA president and CEO. “SEMA360 is the ideal solution to bring the industry together, at a time when we’ve all been kept apart. The platform allows qualified buyers to interact with manufacturers, see innovative new products, check out top SEMA Show builds, and take in industry-leading educational offerings.”

Show organizers gathered input from industry members who registered concerns with typical “virtual trade show” solutions. The result is SEMA360, a simplified platform where SEMA will help manufacturers create a straightforward brand presence that will reach quality domestic and international buyers. With a focus on helping the industry grow their businesses, participating resellers will have access to product offerings and demonstrations, and manufacturer personnel.

“The industry made it clear there is a void to fill,” said Tom Gattuso, SEMA vice president of events. “SEMA360 addresses that need by leveraging SEMA’s exclusive buyer database to connect manufacturers with resellers.”

Key features of SEMA360 include:

  • A simplified platform for manufacturers to showcase their new products and innovations
  • Efficient interaction between manufacturers and resellers for quality business exchange
  • SEMA vehicle reveals from world-class builders
  • Industry-leading education focused on professional development and new strategies
  • SEMA’s unrivaled media contacts amplifying news, products, and innovations to a world-wide audience
  • Manufacturer applications for SEMA360 will open Sept. 3, 2020, at a SEMA-member rate of $495, and a nonmember rate of $1,495. Attendee registration, which opens mid-September, will be free to qualifying buyers who are SEMA members, and $25 to nonmembers. Qualifying media will be able to register at no cost.

MARIETTA, GA (08.28.2020) – AIS has announced the introduction of their new dual-color fog lights.

These new pro-series fog lights are the first ever where the driver can
wirelessly change the color of the fog lights from 6500K (super bright white) to 3000k (yellow) at the push of a button on the dash. National Sales

However, in cases of extreme weather such as fog, rain and snow, the driver can change the lights to yellow providing better visibility by simply pressing a button installed on the dash. The fog lights have no moving parts such as fans, which means greater reliability in harsh environments where dirt and moisture have been a problem in the past.”

Recently launched and now available, the A.I.R. Solo (Antimicrobial Irradiation Respirator) is a wearable UVGI face mask that is designed to be worn under common face masks in order to protect both users and those around them, killing live viruses such as coronavirus, pathogens, bacterium, or other microorganisms attached to the fabric’s surface.

“We are all familiar with the CDC statement ‘Your mask protects me; my mask protects you,’” said Troy Organo, co-inventor of the product. “The A.I.R. Solo provides protection against viruses for both the user and others. High-risk individuals cannot simply rely on others to respect their health safety. The Solo provides benefits to the user while also sanitizing outgoing air to protect others. While this product is beneficial for high-risk individuals, it is for anyone going into a higher-risk environment such as public transportation, flying, or even for simply going to the grocery store.”

Ideal for both consumers and professionals alike, the A.I.R. Solo is the extra layer of protection that can help mitigate exposure to COVID-19 and other viruses as the country begins to re-open. Now shipping, the A.I.R. Solo has been designed and engineered in the USA with a special pre-order introductory price of only $119.95 USD.

This device also benefits those who wear cloth face coverings, according to Hartenstein. “Studies have shown that respiratory pathogens on the outer surface of cloth masks can actually result in self-contamination, which is exactly what they are intended to prevent,” he said. “Because of this, we see the unique UV irradiation benefits of A.I.R. Solo as the best sanitization scenario for helping to mitigate exposure to COVID-19 and other viruses.”

Wavelengths between 200-300 nanometers, such as the UV-C LEDs integrated into the A.I.R. Solo provide the most effective germicidal function. This is because the wavelength of UV-C irradiation utilizes photons to inactivate the virus which prevents the cell from replicating and infecting the body if inhaled. The A.I.R. Solo’s UV-C LED emitters are integrated into the airflow partition of the device which is designed to scrub the air and sterilize the cloth mask simultaneously.

Research has shown effectiveness of UV-C LEDs against Coronavirus. A recent study by Sensor Electronic Technology, Inc. (SETi) has demonstrated 99.9 percent effectiveness against COVID-19 and determined that COVID becomes even more sterile when placed closer to the UV-C source. The A.I.R. Solo is designed to channel the incoming air within 5mm of the UV-C source providing increased effectiveness and sterilization.

Is the A.I.R. Solo safe?

For years hospitals and labs have used ultraviolet light for disinfection and medical sanitation against viruses. Commonly known as “Ultraviolet germicidal irradiation,” UVGI is a disinfection method that uses short-wavelength ultraviolet light to kill or inactivate microorganisms by disrupting their DNA in a manner which renders the cells inactive and unable to perform cellular functions. Multiple tests have demonstrated that no measurable amount of UV-C light is directed towards the user wearing the device.

“UV-C light has been used in many applications such as the purification of drinking water for decades,” explained Hartenstein. “While UV-C is part of the normal spectrum of sunlight, it is invisible and can cause sunburn with direct skin exposure. This was taken into account when developing the A.I.R. Solo, and the UV light is outward and away from the user to prevent any direct skin exposure. Testing has shown that no measurable amount of UV-C light is directed towards the user wearing the device.”

Ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) is a disinfection method that uses short-wavelength ultraviolet C (UVC) light to kill or inactivate microorganisms by destroying nucleic acids which, in turn, disrupts their DNA, rendering them inactive by leaving these cells unable to perform vital cellular functions. UVGI is already used in a variety of applications, such as food, air, and water purification. The application of UVGI to disinfection has been an accepted practice since the mid-20th century. UV-C radiation has often been presumed to be the most potent carcinogen of all UV. However, studies such as one from CIE show this is a misconception based upon a lack of appreciation of the very shallow penetration depth of 254 nm radiation in human skin. Today it is considered that UV-C radiation, if appreciably carcinogenic at all, is far less carcinogenic to humans than solar UV-B radiation.

DS18 Said ‘We Like It Loud’ At The Smoky Mountain Jeep Invasion

PIGEON FORGE, TN (08.27.2020) – DS18 had a major presence on the grounds at the Smokey Mountain Jeep Invasion Thursday through Saturday, August 20th-22nd. The 3 big red DS18 tents, with the Big Bad Wolf highlighted, drew a big crowd of Jeepers throughout the event…despite the rain and winds. On Friday, strong winds sent some vendor tents into the air.

With the DS18 red tents, lower left, this image shows the scope of the outdoor area.

Rob Ferro, Mr DS18, along with Hery spent the days showing attendees all the latest from DS18. Jeep Gladiators and Wranglers, from DS18 Jeep Fans, also added to the excitement under the DS18 tents.

There was always a crowd around the DS18 booth with many Jeepers taking shots with their smartphones of the great demo vehicle installations.

Ferro relayed “Reports from the Jeep Invasion promoters said there were over 9000 Jeeps at the event. The total attendance was reported to top 20,000. In addition to the huge area outside, where DS18 was set up, the Le Conte Center was filled with vendors in the 100,000 foot facility.”

Even at night Jeepers could tell DS18 was saying “We Like It Loud.”

Continuing, Ferro offered “There was such a great vibe at the event. We worked with people in the booth to maintain social distancing and most understood. Quite a number of Jeepers in the booth commented about the design of our pods and the DS18 RGB lighting. All said that DS18 was the best.”

Rob Ferro-Mr DS18, surrounded by show stopping demos, embodied the great vibe at the Smoky Mountain Jeep Invasion.

DS18 was front and center at after show events too. All in all it was quite a journey for the DS18 crew as they drove the DS18 pickup, with Jeeps on a trailer, the 968 miles from Miami FL to Pigeon Forge, TN.

The journey to the Jeep Invasion was normal, but mechanical truck issues caused delays on the return to DS18 HQ in Miami.

Concluding, Ferro offered on a Facebook post “So I have been driving for 2 days and haven’t had an opportunity to thank everyone for the tremendous support and for those that drove hundreds of miles to show us your Jeeps and amazing builds. The energy you gave us is out of this galaxy. We are proud to have each and every one of you on our team. You are the best.”
