SEMA Expands Commitment To Young Builders With Revamped Young Guns Program

DIAMOND BAR, CA (08.29.24) – SEMA Battle of the Builders presented by Mothers Polish, the industry’s premier vehicle competition, will feature an expanded Young Guns program this year that will provide the Top 10 finalists in the class the opportunity to experience showcasing their builds on-stage.

Prior to this year, industry experts serving as judges would determine the Top 10 and Top 3 finalists in each class, including Young Guns. Now, after the Top 10 Young Guns finalists are named, each will showcase their vehicle on-stage, and the finalists will vote to select the Top 3 builds that will advance to the final round of judging with finalists from the other Battle of the Builder categories.

“We’re continually looking for ways to support young talent and foster the future growth of the automotive aftermarket industry,” SEMA Vice President of Marketing RJ de Vera. “By expanding the Battle of the Builders competition format to provide Young Guns competitors their own on-stage judging round, we will shine a light on more of these young customizers.”

The Young Guns category, open to builders 29 years and younger at the time of the SEMA Show, was introduced in 2016 to bring national exposure to up-and-coming builders in the industry. Additionally, beginning Sept. 7-8 and continuing throughout the month, Young Guns competitors can be selected by the judges to participate in one or more virtual Golden Ticket events for the chance to win a prize package that includes transportation of their build to the SEMA Show along with travel and hotel accommodations.

Now in its 11th year, SEMA Battle of the Builders provides an international platform for SEMA Show builders to showcase their ingenuity. The competition recognizes class champions in four categories — Hot Rod & Hot Rod Truck; 4 Wheel Drive & Off-Road; Sport Compact, Import Performance, Luxury & Exotic; and Young Guns — and one of these four is crowned the overall Battle of the Builders champion.

Judges review all qualifying applications, including vehicle descriptions and photos, before walking the SEMA Show floor to review builds in-person and selecting the Top 10 finalists in each category. The finalists are then narrowed down to the Top 3 in each category, including the Top 3 Young Guns selected via the new competition format, and these 12 finalists become the judges and select the winner of each category and the overall champion.

Alpine Teslas At The 2024 Electrify Expo In San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (08.28.24) – Alpine Audio Specific Tesla upgrades were spotlighted at the 2024 Electrify Expo event in San Francisco the weekend of August 24th and 25th. Alpine’s West Coast Regional Jason Hannon and Product Specialist Pete Bobsin, along with Vince Miranda-Audio Xperts Vacaville CA, each had their Teslas set for live demos showcasing the Alpine Audio Tesla Specific upgrade systems.

The electrify expo featured a wide variety of e-related products including e-bikes, e-skateboards, e-scooters, and e-RV related products.

Finally, we were also to direct gamers to the exciting world of ‘Alpine Park’ which is an immersive interactive experience on ROBLOX for the young and young at heart.”

Vince Miranda’s Tesla won the Best Audio Trophy at the Expo. Miranda and the Audio Xperts crew have been on the cutting edge of Tesla product upgrades from the beginning. With live demos Miranda provided consumers a true Alpine Tesla Experience. The rear compartment housed a custom system installation with subwoofers and amplifiers. Everything spotlighted with LED lighting.

DOW Technologies Hosted A 3-City Sony Training Swing

TAMPA, FL (08.28.24) – The 3-City Training Tour began in Birmingham AL on Tuesday August 20th when Richard Wong rolled his Sony Tacoma in from Dallas TX. The next night Wednesday the 21st it was Knoxville TN followed by the third stop on the tour in Nashville on Thursday the 22nd.

Birmingham was the first stop on the Sony DOW Technologies training tour with huge monitors showcasing products.

DOW  Director Marketing Jay Johnson related “Kris Bulla did a great job conducting the trainings with help from Sony‘s Richard Wong and DOW’s Jason McArty. At each of the trainings, Bulla covered the Sony lineup of latest products with dinner and training session for dealers in the area. More than 25 people attended each event.”

Bulla stated “There was very good attendance by key dealers who were very engaged throughout the Sony session at each stop. The GS and Mobile ES speakers and the XAV-AX8500 were exciting for all to check out. Richard was behind the wheel as we rolled between the three locations.” 

Nashville was the last stop on the 3-City tour and all are focused on Bulla’s presentation.

Johnson added “At each stop it was absolutely a blast with the Sony product presentation. The energy was off the chart at each stop and we plan to keep it rolling going forward to drive business across the 12volt industry. These trainings are a fantastic opportunity to bring together some of the best minds in the industry and focus on pushing the boundaries of car audio innovation.”

Kenwood Training With East Coast USA Distributors

NEW HYDE PARK, NY (08.26.24) – East Coast USA Distributors has been a fixture throughout the metro New York area for decades. Morris Hartman has had a long-standing business relationship with Albert Zandi also for decades. East Coast USA is a key Kenwood distributor and recently Morris Hartman, The Progressive Group, conducted a training session at their facility for the latest products in the Kenwood line.

Hartman related “I called Albert last Monday and said let’s have a meeting with your sales team to go over the Kenwood line. I’ll bring breakfast and plenty of orange juice. We set the date for Friday last week August 23rd. It was a very in-depth meeting. We talked about products presentation and solutions for the dealer and consumers. We had the new Kenwood brochures to go through and we also unpacked a new Kenwood DMX4710S that is a feature packed receiver and went over the features plus the benefit to the dealer to point out to consumers.”

KICKER Returned To Ocean City For The 2024 JEEP FEST

OCEAN CITY, MD (08.26.24) – KICKER returned for the seventh year as a sponsor of the annual Ocean City JEEP FEST, a celebration of all things Jeep and the owners who love them.

Live Wire Media and Events hosted its annual Jeep Festival in Ocean City MD beginning August 22 and wrapping on August 25th. Jeep owners, fans and the public hit the picturesque beaches of Ocean City to show off and admire the infinite ways Jeep vehicles can be enjoyed and customized.

The KICKER XRV rolled into the Convention Center after the 1300 mile trip from Stillwater OK with Jeremy Wynn and Steven Bambrough in the cab. KICKER territory rep firm Opus Marketing was in the house with Jamie White, Chuck Ottati, Todd Ess and Greg Boylan were in the house and joined by Darren Thomas and his team from AudioWorks Deleware.

KICKER was set up on site at the Roland E Powell Convention Center with the XRV featuring the subwoofer packed Boom Room. KICKER dealer AudioWork of Delaware with sales and installing KICKER systems on site for the entire show and featured several audio packages for purchases made especially for Jeeps and Jeepers.

The Friday night LED light show was sponsored by KKICKER and Trail Seven. There were over 100 jeeps participating.

The weather was ideal this year and there was a large crowd of Jeepers who made it a point to check out all the specials in KICKER booth and get a time scheduled for their installation done by the AudioWorks of Delaware crew. Starting early on Day-1 and continuing until the event wrapped all the bays were filled under the large tents adjacent to the KICKER XRV setup. The Boom Room inside th XRV was active but local sound ordanences limited the Livin’Loud potential of the 40,000 watts amplifier sett up.

White, Opus Marketing Principal, related “The engery throughout the event was amzaing. There was always raffic in the booth and off site too on the beach and light shows in the evenings. KICKER provided a tremendous party atmosphere for everyone at the 2024 OC JEEP FEST!” White also contrubuted super images in this article.

In addition to the amazing aftermarket gear and vehicle vehicles attendees saw and experienced KICKER hosted events like the daily sand course where Jeepers let the air out of their tires to run a sand course of dunes and depressions. KICKER also hosted multiple parties featuring live music, food and drinks like the KICKER kickoff deck party at the Hilton Garden Inn on August 22. KICKIN’ it at the harbor with KICKER on the Pier 23 waterfront restaurant on August 23 and the OC Jeep Fest wrap party wrapping it up with KICKER at the Bourbon Street on the beach on August 24.

The 2024 OC JEEP FEST was definitely Livin’Loud with KICKER.
