The 12volt Spin-To-Win Wheel rolled for 211th time on Friday morning January 20th. The Wheel landed on the Kicker space and the King Kong Custom Audio slip was drawn from the jar. An Instagram post of the winning slip was posted. A video of the wheel spin was also posted.

We reached out with a phone call to King Kong Custom Audio in Albuquerque NM and the nice lady said owner Reggie Guzman was not there. We gave her the news and she said she would give him the great news a Kicker product would be headed that way.

Alpine Now Shipping R-Series Shallow Subwoofers and Enclosures

AUBURN HILLS, MI (01.20.23) – Alps Alpine North America, Inc. (“Alpine”) is now shipping R-Series Shallow Subwoofers available in 12” or 10” raw or enclosed versions. The ultra-shallow subwoofers deliver the same “Loud and Fun” performance synonymous with Alpine’s R-Series Line, now in a shallow subwoofer designed to fit in most vehicle applications. 

Ultra-Shallow Design

The R-Series Shallow Subwoofers offer a 12” or 10” High-Performance Shallow Bass Driver that’s available in both a 4Ω (RS-W12D4, RS-W10D4) or 2Ω (RS-W12D2, RS-W10D2) dual voice coil (DVC) version.

With an ultra-shallow subwoofer design and powerful sound output, the R-Series Shallow Subwoofers provide the best of both worlds in size and sound. Even with a mounting depth of 3.25”, the shallow subwoofers still provide the same cone movement (20mm of linear excursion) as the full-size R-Series Subwoofers, for extreme low-end in a shallow woofer design.

At the heart of the subwoofer is an oversized, USA-manufactured 4” voice coil that is controlled by a powerful neodymium magnet and provides an impressive 600W RMS / 1800W of power handling. Exclusive to Alpine is the Gen2 DD-Linear Magnetic Circuit technology, a compact and efficient dual-gap voice coil structure that allows for better control over the motor, resulting in lower distortion and precise bass control.

Cosmetic design features like a lightweight aluminum dust cap allow the cone to stay cooler for enhanced reliability with minimal distortion for a deep, up-front bass kick. The die-cast aluminum frame provides rigid and sturdy construction with integrated heat sync fins to wick heat from the coil for uninterrupted performance. 

For extra protection, an optional Shallow Subwoofer Grille Kit is available in 12” (KTE-RS12G) and 10” (KTE-RS10G) version (sold separately).

Bigger Bass in Less Space

The R-Series Shallow Subwoofers are also offered in a 12” or 10” Sealed Preloaded Enclosure for those looking for a complete subwoofer application. Measuring a minimal 5.25” in depth without mounting feet, the enclosures are the ideal application for vehicles that lack bass and space.

Intentional designs like rubber modular “feet” allow the enclosure to be adjusted in height to accommodate uneven vehicle floors. The feet can also be configured for an upfire or downfire configuration where a pre-installed mesh grille provides a clean finish and extra protection for the speaker cone. The rear panel exposed motor radiates heat from the inside of the subwoofer to the outside of the box for enhanced thermal reliability.

The R-Series Raw Subwoofers are available now in a 12” (RS-W12D4, RS-W12D2) for $649.95 and 10” (RS-W10D4, RS-W10D2) for $599.95. Preloaded Subwoofer Enclosures are also available in a 12” (RS-SB12) for $799.95 and 10” (RS-SB10) for $749.95. January Events This Weekend to Get The Ball Rolling in 2023

SHREVEPORT, LA (01.19.23) – There are 5 large events taking place across the U.S. this Friday, Saturday and Sunday weekend, January 20/ 21/22. The 12volt Central Studios is set to highlight each of these events and their positive contribution to the overall 12volt industry.

The AMA Kicker Aenacross will hit the track in Guthrie OK on Friday, January 20th.The AMA Kicker Arenacross series has expanded the series to 14 events this year. The previous 4 events on this year’s schedule have been very well attended with riders flying high and all in the event centers Livin’Loud. The previous Kicker Arenacross events at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie have been very well attended. Guthrie is a mere 33 miles from the Kicker World HQ in Stillwater OK.

“The AMA Kicker ArenaCross in Guthrie was really Livin’Loud last year and we plan for this year to be even stronger” Lorin Morrell, shown at last year’s event,  related.

ARC Audio will host a Dealer Open House at the company’s Modesto CA HQ Saturday and Sunday January 21/22. Scott Baughman, Reliable Product Marketing firm Principal stated “This is shaping up to be a great event for ARC Audio dealers in the area. It’s been a few year since we hosted an event like this. Dealers will see new products, catch up and do fun things like an amp toss plus enjoy special tacos. Weather forecast indicates we should finally have a sunny sky.”

Parts Unlimited will host the NVP Expo in Louisville KY January 21/22 and Patrick Brooks will highlight the latest from NavAtlas as one of the many exhibitors to be on site after a 3 year hiatus of the event. The NVP Expo continues to expand and this year the event will have an increase of over 40% from the previous event and all exhibits will be on one floor.

The HeatWave Tour will present the Texas Showdown Freedom Rally Custom Truck and Car Show January20/21/22 in Rockdale TX. David MacDonald related “Last years event was strong and we anticipate this year will be even larger. The sound-off component of the Freedom Rally has generated a lot of buzz across the area.”

The last of the Five events is the World of Wheels and the David Lawrence Convention Center in Downtown Pittsburg. Team Nutz will be on site with a 5,000 foot booth. Ed Nuttall and a staff of 20 will work the event with 18 demo vehicles. On LIVE site installations will take place including leather seats, vinyl wrap, paint correction and more. In addition the Mon Valley Technical Center team will travel to set up and participate with a large booth. Buses, trailers and cars take 45 students, booth setup supplies and 8 demo vehicles to work their booth and network with a large number of automotive aftermarket brands and companies on the event floor. Attendance is expected to be north of 30,000 over the weekend.

Chris Mance, Mon Valley CTC Instructor stated “We are so excited to return to the World of Wheels this year. We have an even larger booth and exciting plans. Our first year students will get a chance to see real world opportunities for careers in the automotive aftermarket industry. Spending time with Ed Nuttall in the Team Nutz booth and see their team complete LIVE real world installations will be terrific.”

King Kong Custom Audio Rocks The Skate-O-Mania Ride

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (01.18.23) – King King Custom Audio recently completed a truly unique demo vehicle for a local skate rink… Skate-O-Mania. A 12volt Central Studios staff member noticed a King Kong Custom Audio post on Instagram and immediately knew there had to be much more to the story. There definitely was.

This neon graphic highlights the Skate and is showcased in the Skate-O-Mania rink lobby.

Reggie Guzman, King Kong Custom Audio owner, posted on Instagram “Skate-O-Mania dropped off this bad ass roller skate for some work. Disco ball, underglow, wheel halos, headlight halos and with speakers under the vehicle.”

Guzman filled the 12volt Central Studios staff in with more details during a phone call. “This was certainly the most unique vehicle installation we have done in the 11 years we have been in business. And yes, this is a street legal vehicle that is over 10’ tall and was constructed on an old VW frame. The windshield is mounted high on the skate for excellent visibility from the drivers seat with large side mounted rearview mirrors. Entrance is through a door in the back of the skate.”

Continuing “The Shake-O-Mania owner Coutrney Ballew was looking for a vehicle that would catch attention for his skating rink. We installed Memphis Audio amplifiers and underbody tower marine speakers. The music originates from a smartphone Bluetooth connection. The LED lighting really draws attention parked in front of his skating rink. This was an amazing project build for a local business. We were happy to be a part of this unique and amazing build.”

A call to Skate-O-Mania added to the story. Ballew’s father owned a skating rink in North Carolina 40 years ago. The body of the skate was a spec build project of 20 large skates back in the ’80’s to draw attention for skating rinks. There are maybe 6 of the original skates left and one is now in front of Skate-O-Mania in Albuquerque NM.

Ballew related “It truly is an amazing story about this skate. One of the first chapters was to transport it on a trailer from North Carolina. The height on the skate created a problem that called for a special trailer. Once the skate arrived it took a lot of work to refurbish the frame and get the VW platform back in shape. The Skate-O-Mania looks terrific but there are still some minor thing on the body.”

Concluding Ballew stated “Reggie and his crew at King Kong Custom Audio did a terrific job with the sound system and lighting on the skate. We have participated in local parades and I can do 35 mph on the streets…always watching out for signs and overpasses. No doubt it grabs eyeballs everywhere. All the time people are grabbing selfies by the Skate-O-Mania and that puts is on their phones and social media. Our roller rink definitely gives ’80’s nostalgia while offering a great experience for the whole family.”

Kicker Awards International Distributor of the Year Award to GemSen

CONCORD, ONTARIO (01.17.23) – Aziz Masri, International Sales Manager for car audio manufacturer Kicker, has announced that Canadian distributor GemSen, has been awarded the company’s International Distriibutor of the Year award for 2022.

The award was presented to GemSen’s founders Sal and Nadia Riina along with Mike O’Connor, Mike Danbrook, and Dave Singh by Kicker’s Aziz Masri, Chet Weddle, and Kicker Founder Steve Irby in Mexico at the Hard Rock in Puerto Vallarta during the Kicker Trip attended by hundreds of American Kicker dealers and of distributors and from across the globe.

GemSen VP of Sales, Mike O’Connor stated “Escaping the cold and spending time in Hot & Sunny Mexico to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Kicker was an incredible treat in itself. The AMA KICKER Arenacross Was Livin’ Loud in Prescott Valley, AZ

PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ (01.16.23) – The Findlay Toyota Center was sold out of Friday night January 13th for the AMA KICKER Arenacross. The arena area was reconfigured from a hockey rink to a dirt track with mound after mound riders had to navigate as they made their way around the track.

The pre-race Pit Party brought fans and racers together track side and on the track.

Prior to the race card fans enjoyed meeting riders in the Pit Party. “The pre-race Pit Party is new this year and starts about an hour before racing begins. Fans got a chance to speak with, and get to know a little about, their favorite riders and how they ride on the track. All had smiles on their faces. In addition the Pit Party adds time to the length of time Arenacross fans spend at the event. Many fans are in the venue until 10PM. This provides us more time to talk with attendees about products in the KICKER product lineup” related Lorin Morrell-Maddog_Media who orchestrates KICKER activities at the AMA Arenacross events.

Once the Pit Party area cleared the track was opened riders cranked up their bikes and made their ways around the very difficult track circuit where the dirt mounds were barely 15 feet apart. Many of the riders were able to fly over one mound and land on the downside of the next mound. Some riders didn’t have smooth landings and had to adjust their body parts before continuing the race.

KICKER had a booth set up in the lobby with a wide selection of products set up on tables under the tent. AMA Arenacross attendees are definitely interested in audio products as many enjoy motorcycle, PowerSport, Lifestyle and/or marine activities in addition to their everyday drives.

Morrell added “In the Prescott Valley there are a lot of opportunities for outdoor activities. PowerBars for side-by-sides and marine installs plus under seat truck boxes and Harley setups grabbed a lot of interest in the KICKER booth.”

There were more Pro riders at this Arenacross as recent heavy rain in California cancelled many outdoor riding events.

“This AMA KICKER Arenacross season was expanded to 14 events all across the U.S. The Prescott Valley event was the 4th event and next on the schedule is Guthrie Oklahoma on January 21st. With Guthrie very near the KICKER HQ in Stillwater we know the whole state will be Livin’Loud!” Morrell concluded.

Alpine and Online Marketing on the Road in Ohio

MIAMISBURG, OH (01.13.23) – Alpine Electronics’ Chris Reavis and Online Marketing’s Steve McGaffee are on the road in seeing dealers in Ohio the week of January 9th. On Wednesday, January 11th, Reavis pulled the Alpine Jeep up in front of the Stereo-in-Dash store in Miamisburg.

McGaffee related “Stereo-in-Dash is a strong dealer, and an Alpine Style Center, in our territory and we wanted to bring them up to speed on the new Alpine products for 2023.”

The Alpine Style Center display area in the Stereo-in-Dash showroom immediately grabs attention as soon as customers enter the store.

Chris Reavis pulled the Alpine Jeep that he pilots his region up in front of Stereo-in-Dash in Miamisburg, OH.

Continuing McGaffee offered “Reception has been really strong on this road trip and dealers feel like Alpine listened to the input they shared… which is leading to this great new product launch. In spending time speaking with Jason Gilley and Todd Grubb on the sales floor they agreed. 2023 will be an exciting year to be an Alpine dealer.”

The Shiflet & Dickson Dealer Show Set for March 18th and 19th

GASTONI,A NC (01.12.23) – Make your plans to attend the 2023 Shiflet & Dickson Dealer Show. The event kicks off Saturday night with a St Paddy’s Day party featuring live music along with food and refreshments in the company’s facility in Gastonia. Sunday is the show day with over 20 brands represented. There will be food and refreshments on show day Sunday also.

Shiflet & Dickson’s David Holland stated “This will be our 31st dealer show! Many dealers have not had the ability to go to a show recently to see the newest 12volt products. With vendor motorcycles and other vehicles we plan on letting our customers hear what these products sound like in a real world setting other than on a display in a showroom.”

Continuing Holland offered “We will have trainings with certain vendors as well as having reps on the show floor to answer questions. We start the St Paddy’s day party Saturday night with food, refreshments and live entertainment.”

Concluding Holland stated “Our show is like having our large family come into our facility for a large get together.
