Super Cat Fest West 2024 Returned to Lake Havasu With KICKER The Title Sponsor

LAKE HAVASU, AZ (04.24.24) – The Super Cat West 2024, with sponsor KICKER, returned to the Havasu Riviera Marina April 17th thru April 21st. The KICKER XRV, with a new wrap, was on the ground showcasing KICKER Livin’Loud Audio and numerous ski and pontoon boats were on the water in the marina.

The KICKER XRV, sporting new wrap, gets ready to roll into position.
Once in position, the XRV started to draw enthusiasts.

Lorin Morrell, MaddDog Media, orchestrates many KICKER consumer events was one site and stated “Last year was great and this year was even better…way better. The XRV debuted a new wrap from GatorWraps which is located locally. The XRV is an 85’ rolling showroom on land with the amazing 40,000 watt Boomroom. No doubt the XRV is always Livin’Loud.”

The Elite Audio Tri Toon debut attracted a crowd at the Marina.

Continuing “ KICKER’s Tracy Focht and Jacob Luckey were on site. Focht worked with area rep Dan Murphy-Murfco and area dealers. Luckey worked under the tent to connect with enthusiasts showcasing the wide selection of KICKER products.”

Jacob Luckey was also busy at night connecting consumers with the latest KICKER products.
LED lighting on many boats created an amazing setting for attendees.

“Local retailer Elite Audio debuted their new KICKER equipped Tri Toon with SOLO X subs along with their deck boat. The two were connected soundwise so Jeff, Shawn and Christine were definitely Livin’Loud in the marina. The lighting on many of the boats in the marina and harbor was out of this world at night time” Morrell added.

During the auction $370,000 was raised for local charities.

KICKER will remain in the area for the Desert Storm this coming weekend.

2024 CMA EXPO Delivered an Unforgettable Experience for Canadian Mobile Electronics Retailers

TORONTO, CANADA (04.16.24) – For the second consecutive year, the 2024 CMA EXPO brought together over 100 leading mobile electronics brands, retailers, and industry experts for a weekend of skill-building, product showcases, and networking. The Toronto Congress Center played host to an amazing turnout of more than 550 attendees, including more than 300 staff, management, and owners from the top mobile enhancement retailers from across the country.

Attendees in the hall of the Toronto Congress Centre waiting for the show floor doors to open.

CMA Networks Director of Operations, Frank Spezzano, and Content Director/Webcast Host Ben Woo noted that the continued success of the CMA EXPO can be directly attributed to the commitment from Canadian retailers and the supporting event sponsors.

The event was marked by three significant highlights. The first was the specialty Skills Training seminars, a testament to the importance of continuous learning in this dynamic industry. These sessions, led by industry experts, were so popular that many were standing room only, demonstrating the thirst for knowledge among attendees.

Bryan Schmitt conducted a Mobile Solutions workshop in this packed setting.

The Workshops featured several industry leading speakers, Ken Ward, Kris Bulla, Rob Haynes, Dean Beyett, Jon Kowanetz, Jody Culbertson and special guest Bryan Schmitt of Mobile Solutions.

Rob Haynes conducting a well attended JL Audio training session.

Second, exhibiting distributors and manufacturers shared six training rooms to provide an impressive 72 product-specific training sessions for retailers. Understanding the features, specifications, and capabilities of the products offered to consumers is fundamental to delivering upgrades that offer the best balance of value, performance, and reliability.

The 6-person Atlantic Car Stereo team traveled 1100 miles from Nova Scotia to Toronto to take advantage of the learning opportunities at the CMA Expo 2024. Pictured (L to R) Trevor Horning-Shop Manager, Darrell Russell-Owner, Amy Bowler-Sales, Sarah Russell-Owner, Chris Francis-Sales and Cullen Courtney-Installation Technician.

The third element of the event was the exhibit hall. With almost 30,000 square feet of space, exhibitors put on a trade show like no other in the country. Distributors like Automobility, Gemsen, Importel, Trends,DIX Performance, Gentec International (featuring Sony & Alpine), and Erikson Consumer had demo vehicles and interactive product displays set up for retailers to experience. Manufacturer booths included SiriusXM, JVCKenwood, Pioneer, Metra, Stinger, and Fortin.

Billy Alexandre conducting a THINKWARE Dash Cam session for a packed meeting room.

Along the back wall, Trends had a Tesla Model 3, a Focal-equipped Lexus, and a Chevy Silverado all the way from B.C. Three Harley touring bikes represented Cicada Audio, Focal, and Aquatic AV motorcycle audio upgrade solutions. A stunning surf-theme Chevy Wagon with KICKER audio equipment, a slammed Jeep Gladiator with JL Audio equipment, and a cool Harley-Davidson with Precision Power gear met attendees in the Gemsen Booth. Importel hosted four amazing vehicles, including the Audiofrog Volvo, the amazing ARC Audio Jetta, the Ground Zero Ford Maverick, and a no-holds-barred Jeep Gladiator chock full of DB Drive audio equipment and cool lighting.

Ken Ward conducting an Audison DSP tuning organized by Automobility.

The impressive Automobility booth was broken into brand-specific sections with Rockford Fosgate leading the way with four vehicles, including a custom Harley, a cool Campagna T-Rex, a Polaris Ranger, and a Jeep Wrangler. We’d be remiss in overlooking the tattoo studio run by Luna Ink to brand attendees with their choice of Rockford Fosgate ink. The other end of the booth had a lifted RAM 3500 with Hertz gear and a Tesla Model 3 with Audison equipment. A tastefully restored Ford Bronco in the Memphis booth attracted much attention.

Sony displayed a pair of Toyotas to highlight the Mobile ES and GS-Series products. Alpine showcased their famous Tesla Model S with an outrageous F#1 Status sound system. In keeping with their ongoing theme of standing out from the crowd, JVCKenwood upgraded a go-kart with speakers and an amplifier with built-in Bluetooth. They also had a super-clean Ford F-150 on display. The SiriusXM booth featured a cool Land Rover Defender.

In between activities, the hallways were filled as attendees waited for the next session.

Every aspect of the car audio industry was covered with solutions for cars, trucks, motorcycles, powersports, and marine applications. Remote car starter and security systems, audio integration solutions, smartphone connectivity upgrades, lighting, telematics, satellite radio, radar detectors, wiring, fabrication tools, and much more were available to experience, and manufacturer specialists could answer all the questions retailers could imagine.

Jacob Luckey conducting a KICKER training session.

Another highlight from this year’s event was the SiriusXM Networking Lounge in the main lobby giving industry professionals a spot to connect, meet and discuss business.

Finally, all the Expo attendees were invited to celebrate at the inaugural CMA Expo Industry Party presented by SiriusXM and held at the Delta Hotels Toronto Airport. CMA Expo guests who attended the event were treated to live music by Blue Silver, Radio Sonics, and DJ Splinter.

“The Retail Experience” Shined At The SSR University 1.2 in Dallas

DALLAS, TX (04.12.24) – The SSR University 1.2 event, focused on “The Retail Experience,” held in Dallas Wednesday evening drew a very engaged audience.

“Paul Galanos, our Director of Marketing and Training, truly shined during the session. His engaging delivery and comprehensive explanation of the entire sales process, from the retail parking lot to greeting the customer, making the sale all the way to establishing lasting customer relationships, left everyone impressed” Tracy Farr, SSR Distributors VP of Sales ad Operations stated.

Paul Galanos presenting ‘The Retail Experience’ SSR University 1.2 session at the SSR Dallas location early Wednesday evening.

The April 10th session kicked off at 6:30 and wrapped at 8:30 with a break midway was time for attendees to enjoy a selection of sandwiches, sides and refreshments.

“The Retail Experience in Dallas was yet another successful installment from Season One of this groundbreaking venture by SSR Distributors. The horrific weather earlier in the day didn’t stop local business owners and their respective staff members from participating. The Retail Experience outlines the retail environment from the customers point of view. Often times in retail sales, much emphasis is applied to procedure and tactic with little or no attention paid to how the average customer responds
to the quality of their visit” Galanos commented.

Tracy Farr holds his certificate from the SSR University Dallas session 1.1 in his office following the March 6th launch.

Seasoned sales trainer Galanos successfully opened the eyes of dealers with one goal in mind….to consider the retail experience from the customers point of view. Caring for customers from the cradle to grave is the objective that is widely missed across the brick and mortar landscape.

“Through vivid examples and interactive role-plays, Paul kept the audience thoroughly entertained and involved. I’m thrilled to report that the event was a resounding success. It’s clear that these training sessions are not just an investment in our customers but also a testament to SSR’s unwavering commitment to providing value and excellence in every interaction. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making SSR University 1.2 a memorable and an impactful experience. Let’s continue to prioritize our customers’ needs and ensure that these training sessions remain invaluable to our team” Farr concluded.

KICKER Hosting The 2024 SkillsUSA Oklahoma State Contest

STILLWATER, OK (04.11.24) – SkillsUSA prepares students for the workforce and students in the Mobile Electronics Division will compete for recognition at the National Competition in Atlanta. The conference will be held at the Georgia World Conference Center in Atlanta and attract over 6500 competitors in 110 competitions.

KICKER Audio is a strong supporter of the SkillsUSA initiative. Aaron Malin, TECH Force Global Training Manager, has participated in previous SkillsUSA National Conferences. Malin and Jacob Luckey, KICKER Global Trainer, will be headed to Atlanta for the 2024 Skills USA Conference June 26th and 27th.

Aaron Malin (L) and Jacob Lucky working with students at the 2023 competition in Stillwater.

On Thursday, April 11th, the local SkillsUSA Mobile Electronics Installation competition takes place at the Meridian Technology Center in Stillwater OK, Malin will be on site as students prepare to showcase their installation and communication skills to judges The stakes are high with only three winning spots available for the State high school and secondary/college level competition.

“Each student prepares to perform to their best abilities for the judges. Some of the stations include soldering, wiring speakers and identifying components. Students will be judged on their proficiency in those particular skills and only the top four were chosen to go to state competitions” Malin stated..

Jacob Lucky constructed this amplifier installation and tuning test rig for the SkillsUSA contest. He built four of them and will provide basic plans and discounted products will be provided for schools that want to build their own.

SkillsUSA works to bring motivated individuals to the workforce and teach them lifelong skills. There are local, state and national competitions with 53 states participating, according to SkillsUSA.org. Its mission is to empower its members to become world-class workers, leaders and responsible American citizens.

The 12-volt industry is in need of more sharp-minded employees to bring new ideas to the table. The overall employment of mobile electronics installers and technicians is projected to show little to no change from 2021 to 2031, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics years.

Jacob Luckey built this subwoofer wiring test station. Four were built for the contest and they will be used at the state championships as well. After the state contest all eight rigs will be shipped to Atlanta where they will be utilized for the national competition this year and beyond.

“We hear from retailers on a regular basis that they cannot find qualified people to hire,” related Malin. “Take out qualified… they can’t find people to hire.” Malin will again be one of the judges for the National SkillsUSA competition and has been judging for three years. Malin added that many of the students are put in a position where they can find a suitable job by participating in SkillsUSA National Conference.

Through SkillsUSA, students have the opportunity to learn valuable lessons and make lifelong friends. “It is always exciting when you see the ‘lightbulb’ moment as something really clicks in the mind of a student,” Malin said. “The ‘ah hah!’ that lets you know they really got it! Last year at the national competition in Atlanta, one young man was so excited to introduce me to his mom and siblings after we really connected during his job interview competition. He experienced my admiration and his family’s proud moment, all at the same time.”

The Upcoming SkillsUSA Oklahoma State Conference in Tulsa will be a chance for local champions to compete for a spot at Nationals.

“Students not only receive valuable skills from these events, but also priceless communication skills. From difficult interviews, to speaking with industry professionals and presenting their skills they also learn difficult communication skills” stated Chris Jack, Technical Chairperson for mobile electronics installation, for SkillsUSA. “My father always said that “I don’t care if you’re going to wipe up dirt off the floor, wear a suit and tie to an interview…no matter what it’s for.”

Concluding Malin commented “The12volt industry needs workers more than ever, and SkillsUSA helps to ensure that they are proficient in their trade. I would like to encourage other 12-volt industry members and manufacturers to get involved with SkillsUSA at their local, state and national level. As an industry, we need those young men and women to join us in our very exciting and quickly evolving industry.”
