MECA Suspends Events Until May

GOODLETTESVILLE, TN (03.19.2020) – MECA Commish Steve Stern related “With venues closing and the government advisories directing no public gatherings of more than 10 people, we are suspending MECA events until May. Depending on many variables, we would like to resume our event schedule in May, but that may not be possible.

Steve Stern offered “We had a great start on the competition season and now this is a real punch in the gut for everyone!”

There may be a small SQL event or 2 during this time, and we are working on that. Events are being removed from the calendar as soon as we have confirmation. Most events will be rescheduled, although we may lose some for 2020, and hope to be back in full force in 2021.

No doubt, this will impact our members’ points accumulation We will work to make sure that all members who want to compete at Finals are able to do so, given that we are able to present the 2020 Finals events. Ironically, we were ready to announce the Finals dates and location this week, but now the venue is having issues that will effect our plans. The united orgs, MECA and IASCA and dB Drag Racing, intend to present a 2020 unified Finals. More info on that as we can confirm it.

The mobile electronics industry and MECA were off to a great start for 2020, with engaged customers and sales that indicated an exciting year. MECA will continue to promote our club and sponsors during this intermission. Knowing the safety concerns, our goal is to have contests as soon as possible. The main thing is that our club is working to provide safe and worthwhile events and will continue when “the coast is clear.”

Coronavirus Curveball

SHREVEPORT, LA (03.16.2020) – A National Emergency has been declared. The Coronavirus has thrown the entire world a huge curveball. The 12Volt World is not immune.

Custom Audio, Erie PA, made this informative post to provide health tips for followers and consumers.

Over the past several days it seems every hour some startling news appears. Cruise lines have docked ships for 2 months. Apple Stores and Nike Stores are closing for 2 weeks. Nationwide over 42,000 schools are closed for 2 weeks and more. Images and videos of empty store shelves fill screens at home and for those on the go.

Team Nutz gave followers another reason to come into their Pittsburgh store…to check out the JL Audio DSP demo.

Distributor shows have traditionally kicked off the spring car audio season. The updated 12volt News Distributor Calendar shows the Woofer Electronics and DAS events have been cancelled. The Mid-State Distributing Show in Chicago and CMA Expo in Toronto have been postponed. Additionally, other shows on the schedule may see changes.

The Knowledgefest 2020 event in Indianapolis has been rescheduled to July 10-12.

This post by PCH in Wilmington CA will open the eyes of followers and consumers.

Companies across the 12volt industry are leaning to restricting employee travel and encouraging, where possible, that staff members work from home. Even outdoor events like the Mud Nationals, scheduled to begin on March 18th in rural Arkansas, have been canceled.

Through all of this companies across the 12volt industry must make every effort to keep the doors open and do business. Companies across the 12volt industry must be make every effort to be proactive. Social media posts can engage followers with attention grabbing images, new products and special offers. Following up with prospects and previous customers can create store traffic and business. With the marine season set to begin, that category offers opportunities along with the hot UTV market. Window Tint and vehicle wrap seasons are set to begin also.

Let’s MARCH ON as an industry!!

MECA Commish Steve Stern related “We are having shows unless mandated by local, state of federal government. Most of our shows are under 100 and outside, for better social distancing, so we should be OK. Obviously people who are sick should not attend. Anyone showing flu-like symptoms will be asked to leave and their vehicle will not be judged.”

As an industry, we must not go into a shell and wait for this National Emergency to blow over. At the 12volt Central Studios we plan to redouble our efforts to make posts highlighting positive activity across the 12volt industry. During a call with Tom Broomall at Audio Jam on Friday March 13th he commented on a $6,000. marine job in the works. During an additional conversation on Friday, with John Schellsmidt at Audio Depot in Arlington TX, he stated store traffic was normal.

Rene Rodriquez and the Team at Intense Audio 1 in OKC OK were working on jobs in the install bay until 11:30 Saturday night March 14th. Ed Nutall, Team Nutz in Pittsburg, made social media posts to show followers his new DSP demo setup on the showroom display board. Sam Benitez at PCH Custom Audio in Wilmington CA showed a smiling customer with the new Lambo doors on his Camaro. Lots of hot UTV posts too.

“As an industry let’s all work, and redouble our efforts, to ‘Get Our Shine On.’ We look forward to showcasing your efforts” Mike Van Horn.

Following the Devastating Tornado Nashville, Volunteers Work to Recover and Rebuild

NASHVILLE, TN (03.11.2020) – People in Nashville, surrounding communities and rural areas are are working virtually non-stop to recover from the devastating tornado that struck in the middle of the night March 3rd. The 175 mile per hour winds of the category 4 tornado killed over 2 dozen people and left many miles of the total destruction of homes, businesses and farm land.

Members of “Team Orange” pictured in the church after arriving Friday night. Josh Eatherly far left and Josh Buis on the right.

P&E Distributors is headquartered in the Nashville suburb of Goodlettsville and employs a large staff. Josh Eatherly related to 12volt News “Thankfully none of our employees were harmed. We had 3 employees who had minor property damage. With that being said almost everyone had extended family or friends who were heavily affected. There has been much volunteerism happening they are actually sending people home from clean up sites. Nashville will rebuild over time. East of Nashville in Putnam County all were not as lucky and we, as a company, started directing our efforts there.”

Pizza was on the menu Friday evening to get Team Orange set for the heavy work day on Saturday. P&E’s Josh Eatherly pictured standing on the left.

Continuing Eatherly stated “We have had so many vendors reach out and contribute to the cause. Kicker, Metra, Odor 1, Airlift, Truck Hero and Race Sport Lighting offered support very quickly. We will be supplying free a Chain Saw and small Engine Spark Plugs to cleanup workers courtesy of E3.”

A homeowner gave each member of Team Orange a “Thank You So Much Brick” to take home as a reminder of their work in Nashville.

Eatherly added “The biggest help came from a key vendor and friend Scorpion Protective Coatings. Company COO Josh Buis organized a group of nine young men from Greencastle, IN to come help clean up on Saturday March 7th. My sister Stephanie helped partner with Dalewood Baptist Church to house the group who worked their tails off. I enjoyed speaking with them and seeing their enthusiasm when they arrived late Friday night and we ordered pizza and set the plan for Saturday.”

A Crisis Response Team coordinator sets the plan with Team Orange.

Josh Buis offered to 12volt News “When I heard the news of the tornado I called Josh at P&E first thing. We knew people in and around Nashville needed a big helping hand. We loaded up on Friday afternoon, March 6th, after school and our group of 11 headed to Nashville…arriving about 9 PM after the 5 hour drive to Nashville from our home base in Indiana. Damon Carrington and I traveled with the 9 young volunteers. Josh’s sister had made arrangements with the church for a place for us to sleep. Pizza was on the menu and we all got to sleep for the job ahead on Saturday.”

On Saturday the crew, that would become known as “Team Orange”, was on site in Putnam County east of Nashville. “Team Orange” work was coordinated through the local Crisis Response Unit as they cleared debris and worked along locals and other volunteers. All “Team Orange” members worked through the day and departed at dark on Saturday evening. “Team Orange” arrived home just before midnight Saturday night.

Team Orange members work to remove a large tree trunk.

“We definitely gave it all we had throughout the day on Saturday. On the drive back to Indiana I looked in the rearview mirror and “Team Orange” members were all laid back…and enjoying the great Kicker headphones that Kicker and P&E supplied to each member of the team. We can’t thank Kicker and Josh enough” Buis concluded.

The trip to Nashville was sponsored by Scorpion Protective Coatings, Odd Fellow Printing, RSQ Fire Protection and P&E Distributors along with the Huff and Boggess Families.

Aunex Enters the Global Market

CHINO, CA (03.09.2020) – In May of 2019 Industry Veteran Steven Bach created and launched a new audio electronics brand called Aunex, Inc.  Now, 9 months later Aunex is ready to support itsdealers and distributors worldwide.  “After 25 years of working in the audio industry, it was time that I took this leap of faith and branched out on my own.  I entered the 12volt audio industry in the mid 90’s starting at a company called Marathon in South Gate, California which later became Massive Audio,” stated Steven. From Massive, Steven joined PowerBass in their early start up stage at year one of the company. From PowerBass, Steven found his way to Crossfire Car Audio and eventually returned back to PowerBass where he held the company’s Vice President position for more than 10 years.

“At PowerBass, I took great pride leading both the Sales & Marketing Team along with overseeing the company’s Product Development Team. During that time, I learned a great deal about what it took to manage a diverse group of seasoned Sales professionals and an equally talented Acoustic and Electronics Engineering staff,” said Steven.

Steven Bach – Aunex President pictured visiting the company’s suppliers in 2019 to ensure production schedule is met and product quality is rigorously tested.

Now that times have become increasingly challenging for retailers, distributors and manufacturer reps with diverse competition from online marketplaces, to the way brands continually fight the race to zero mentality, Steven decided it was time to put his years of networking to the test and form his own company.  Aunex will be positioned as a limited distribution line while setting its priority on dealer direct model. “When I started to take a deep dive with various retailers, one of the main concerns most dealers mentioned was price protection.  Our industry business model continues to evolve with the growing trend of consumers making their purchases online.

“I can understand our dealer’s frustrations if they lose a sale from the internet.  There are a large number of consumers who believe they will get the best deals online, so when they visit their local retailers, they ask product questions, get a feel for the products they are interested in and then proceed to make their purchases online. As such many retailers have adopted new ways to combat the seemingly unbeatable internet prices. Despite that, pricing challenges are still often hard fought. With Aunex, one of the ways we will be supporting our retailers is not allowing any online sales; protecting the margins of our dealers is one of our main priorities,” said Steven.

Gilbert Munoz – Aunex Warehouse & Shipping Manager fulfilling the first batch of orders.

However, to not have distribution in the US can limit product availability for dealers that are on the Southeast and East coast, therefore Aunex will limit its’ distributors to a few key partners that can help facilitate those dealers that need product in timely manner.

“I am very proud of what the talented staff of Aunex has accomplished within the past 9 months. Everything from product planning, product development & rigorously testing to packaging, manuals, website development are all done in-house and to see our first shipments leave last week is one of my greatest achievements,” stated Steven Bach.

Aunex’s first product category which consist of Amplifiers, Equalizers, DSP and Accessories are now ready to ship.  “Our team presently is tasked with expanding our line to include Speakers, Midranges, Subwoofers and Enclosures to complement what we have already engineered.  We will start to introduce these new categories in stages starting in 2021,” said Steven.

If you are looking for a company that will offer cutting edge products, backed by a team of professionals whose job it is to engage and support its’ customers, then it is time to Declare Your Independence and contact the Aunex staff to become an Authorized Aunex Dealer.

“Look out for more press releases from Aunex, Inc. as we start our mission to Making The World Sound Better, One System At A Time.”
