DPS Automotive Wins SEMA PRO Cup Challenge Award at 2021 SEMA Show

DIAMOND BAR, CA (11.09.2021) – DPS Automotive, an automotive restyling shop in Arlington Heights, Ill., is the winner of the second SEMA Professional Restylers Organization (PRO) Cup Challenge. DPS Automotive won the award for creating an accessory package for the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas that has wide consumer appeal.

The program, which encourages customization of new-model cars and trucks for mainstream consumers, showcases restyling packages that are easy to replicate and demonstrates potential profitability for both restylers and dealers. The Volkswagen Atlas includes a full satin blue wrap with interior accents, custom Wheel Pros 21-inch wheels, Rosen Electronics dual rear seat tablets, and lowering springs.

DPS Automotive in Arlington Heights, Ill., won the second SEMA Professional Restylers Organization (PRO) Cup Challenge for its accessory package for the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas.

“We are pleased to present DPS Automotive with an award that highlights the benefits and opportunities that come with vehicle accessorization,” said Josh Poulson, PRO Chair and Owner of Auto Additions. “Not only did DPS Automotive build a one-of-a-kind creation, but it presented a revenue opportunity for restylers and dealers that they can now incorporate in their own businesses and shops.”

The competition took place at the SEMA Show and featured seven restylers showcasing a package for a popular new-model vehicle that would take less than 40 hours to execute and cost no more than $12,500. Packages are judged on their mass appeal, ease to replicate, and potential profitability.

Other companies competing in the PRO Cup Challenge included Auto Image, 2021 Ford F-150; Integrity Customs, 2021 Jeep Gladiator; On The Rocks 4×4, 2021 Chevrolet Silverado; City Kia/Vaccar Co., 2021 Kia Sorento; and Crush Customs, 2021 Kia Telluride. Automotive Concepts won the Fan Favorite Award for their accessorized 2021 Ford Bronco.

The PRO Cup Challenge encourages customization of new-model vehicles and raises the awareness of vehicle accessorizing to the general public. It also encourages dealers to work with restylers to offer accessory packages, as a means for increasing sales and profits.

SEMA Ignited Capped a Very Busy SEMA Show 2021

LAS VEGAS, NV (11.08.2021) – The SEMA Show 2021 capped the 4-Day November 2-5 run with a very busy final day that culminated with SEMA Ignited. Show vehicles rolled out and onto the streets of Vegas as enthusiasts lined the route and applauded the great parade of vehicles.

Cars rolled out of the LVCC as the SEMA Ignited activities began on Friday afternoon.
On Day-1 of SEMA 2021 the Central Hall was packed with attendees checking out the latest from exhibiting companies.

The SEMA Show 2021 was the first in-person full-capacity event at the expanded LVCC. In addition the new West Hall, with 1.4 million square feet of space, was home to hundreds of exhibiting companies focused of the truck and motorsports categories. This expansions of space led to less crowded aisles in other LVCC halls.

That’s a trip thru the Tesla tunnel was a treat for many in this image from Michael Stewart-ST Mobile.
Team Nutz crew members, Ed, Mike and Ben (L to R) at SEMA are dedicated 12volt retail specialists and helped tremendously with images and info for 12volt Central Studios coverage.

The SEMA Show 2021 was the first automotive aftermarket event since the COVID-19 Pandemic. In that atmosphere there was considerable uncertainty on the part of exhibitors and attendees. Also in the forefront is the continuing product shortages. Overall many exhibitors exhibitors reported a productive show as attendees indicated seeing new products and networking was very positive.

This Classic Caddy in the HushMat booth grabbed attention in Hot Rod Alley with an image from Tim McCarthy.
Sony won Best New Mobile Electronics for the XAV-9500ES and Mike Rundel proudly holds the trophy.

A great amount of credit goes to exhibitors who expended large amounts of time, energy and funds to set up their booths, showcase their latest products and interact with attendees in Vegas. Likewise much credit goes to dealers and others committed to making investments to grow their respective businesses.

The new Beyma booth, with the new Nakamichi booth in the background, were both very busy in the North Hall during SEMA 2021.

2021 SEMA Show Marks First Full-Capacity Event at LVCC

DIAMOND BAR, CA (11.03.2021) – The 2021 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show opened this morning, officially kicking off with an industry breakfast featuring some of the hottest new products and special guest Jay Leno teasing a customized Mustang built for musician Keith Urban. With more than 1,300 exhibiting companies and 51,000 buyers confirmed to date, this year’s SEMA Show – which runs through November 5 – marks the first full-facility event to take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center since the pandemic.

“There is a lot of pent-up demand to reconnect in person,” said SEMA VP of Events Tom Gattuso. “Buyers are excited to see what’s new in the industry, and manufacturers are anxious to showcase what they’ve been working on for the past two years. The energy and passion on the Show floor is tremendous.”

Exhibitors wasted no time to showcase their new products and make industry announcements, as customers enthusiastically navigated the convention center seeking to develop new partnerships and strengthen existing ones.

This year’s SEMA Show – which runs through November 5 – marks the first full-facility event to take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center since the pandemic.

“We believe in the value of the SEMA Show and are excited to see our industry colleagues for the first time in two years,” said OPTIMA Batteries Director of Marketing Cameron Douglass. “We’re thrilled we were able to bring the excitement of the OUSCI race to the Show and have already reconnected with many of our buyers, distributors and partners, setting the stage for a great week.”

To help visitors stay on top of trends and opportunities, the SEMA Show includes a dedicated “SEMA Electrified” area where new innovations and cutting-edge technology took center stage. Located in the new West Hall, SEMA Electrified includes electric vehicles and products designed for modifying electric vehicles or converting vehicles to electric power. Nearby, an expanded “SEMA Overland Experience” highlights another new profit center for aftermarket businesses. Whether it is rooftop tents, awnings, portable kitchen systems, and related products on display, SEMA Overland Experience helps businesses visualize and see the opportunities in the extreme.

Other SEMA Show highlights include the largest collection of Chip Foose-built vehicles featured in a special corral that highlights some of the most influential and important vehicles created at Foose Design; a display of over 50 off-road racing vehicles ranging from motorcycles to trophy trucks in SCORE’s “Baja 1000 Experience”; an exclusive West Coast Customs Edition wide body kit on a Dodge Charger and a Dodge Challenger in the West Coast Customs Experience; and interactive driving demos in the Hoonigan Burnyard Bash and the “Ford Out Front” experience.

“This is something we haven’t been able to do for almost two years, and we wouldn’t miss the opportunity to connect with manufacturers and others at SEMA 2021,” said Daryl Sampson, Turn 14 Distribution Vice President of Marketing. “We’ve upped our participation this year and all three of our booths have received a tremendous response already, and we’re looking forward to a productive and memorable week.”
